What you’ll be doing...

The Strategic Planning Leader will own the Strategic Planning model to drive new growth initiatives that capitalize on the business's competitive position, diversify our revenue stream, and align with our long-term vision. You will work cross-functionally to facilitate the refinement of Verizon Connect’s strategy through a disciplined and best-in-class process to drive backcast alignment from the North Star vision into actionable business plans. The role is expected to support the business in developing dynamic plans internally & externally calibrated along with structured hypotheses to deliver strategic recommendations, and work with leaders across the company to drive the strategic initiatives through to results. You will be a leader and generalist who is comfortable with multiple aspects of a business, including finance, operations, and strategy.

  • Lead cross-functional teams, from across the organization to initiate, plan, and execute strategic initiatives to successful completion.
  • Translate business strategy into executable work.
  • Prepare strategic initiatives (through robust planning) for execution, partnering with cross-functional alignment and guide the teams through the execution phase.
  • Influence diverse functional business stakeholders in a matrix organizational structure.
  • Work as part of an integrated team to deliver iteratively and incrementally towards the overall vision (application of agile values and principles).
  • Promote transparency and visibility to work, risks, and opportunities.
  • Build strong, open, and collaborative working relationships among leadership, peers, and support teams within and outside the organization.
  • Partner with the Connect leadership team, senior leaders, and other internal partners to continuously drive and refine the major strategic themes that guide the company’s strategy.

What we’re looking for...

You are comfortable asking out-the-box questions, working with little to no oversight, and working cross-functionally to drive initiatives. You can paint a high resolution picture about what we want to accomplish over the coming years, and can shape the plan that gets us there.
You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Engineering or related field or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in strategy and market/financial analysis within a Corporate or Consulting setting.

Even better if you have one or more of the following

  • Master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to align various stakeholders to a common goal.
  • Strong business acumen and influencing skills, including financial modelling, analysis and forecasting.
  • Convincing verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead by influence as well as direct line reporting.
  • Three or more years of experience in a strategic planning role with corresponding tactical plans.
  • Strong understanding of change management.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Six sigma experience and/or certifications.
