What you’ll be doing...

This position is responsible for the preparation of tax returns, conducting research and interpreting statutes and laws, working with accounting and surcharge analysis and other related tasks.

  • Responsible for handling the Business License compliance process for the Regulatory Team.
  • Prepare Regulatory State and Local business licenses in house along with supporting documentation to be provided to the Outsourcer for submission to the taxing authorities.
  • Communicate with the various taxing jurisdictions to resolve notices, discrepancies, etc.
  • Interpret State and Local Ordinances and/or Agreements to determine the applicability of revenue streams subject to revenue based business licenses.
  • Assist with maintaining detailed and accurate work papers for compliance process.
  • Work on projects that include implementation of process improvements, cost savings strategies, streamlining existing procedures, and documenting processes.
  • Handle special projects that involves researching surcharge applicability, analyze revenue and surcharge data and propose appropriate solutions for management review.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • State and local tax compliance experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Experience with tax law, compliance procedures, accrual methodology, and tax initiatives.
  • Experience in prioritizing deadlines with competing timelines.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or Master’s degree in Tax.
  • Experience with large automated systems including billing, general ledger, and accounts payable.
  • Experience with automated tax systems including Vertex orTaxware.
  • SAP, PeopleSoft, or other major accounting system experience.
  • Tax research and audit experience.
  • Regulatory and Business Licenses experience.
  • Experience with the data requirements and knowledge of billing systems needed for the preparation and filing of business licenses filings.
  • Experience with tax research, tax accounting, SOX processes, telecommunication taxes, and tax saving strategies.
  • Ability to work well independently and within a team.
  • Strong oral, written and analytical skills.
  • Experience with analytical software such Alteryx and Qlick.
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence technical skills.
