What you’ll be doing...

This is a leading technical position within the Technology and Product Development organization, with a focus on building technology and product solutions for end-customers based on Verizon’s 5G network. In this role, the candidate will provide technical leadership and industry knowledge across various internal technology and product groups and external Tier 1 Telecom Global Operators with a focus on leveraging Global Operator partnerships to drive and accelerate technology and product advancement in Verizon. Through these technical partnerships and collaboration, you will help influence opportunities to innovate new ideas, pushing the boundaries of internal development, to bring the right technologies and products for our architects to create customer solutions that leverage our 5G network and provide future revenue streams for the company. Through the partnerships, you will have significant opportunity to drive revenue impact and also define areas we can drive more transformation and remove unproductive costs from the business. You will interact internally with directors, EDs and VPs in our wireless and wireline groups, HQ, VCG, VBG, VMG and externally with CEOs, CTOs and CIOs of partnering Global Operators.

  • Foster strategic global partnerships with Tier 1 telecom operators to develop new products and services to drive new revenue streams.
  • Provide technical leadership across various internal Technology and Product groups and Global Operators to bring the right technologies, 5G / MEC products and transformation initiatives to explore in conjunction with VZ Tier 1 Global Operators.
  • Leverage global operators to drive adoption of Verizon directional technologies, products, services, hardware, and software roadmaps.
  • Research innovations and new technology platforms being used by other global operators.
  • Produce technology and product global operator landscape overviews, technical reports and obtain test results from global operators and companies related to products, services and innovations for use by HQ, VCG, VBG, and VMG teams.
  • Work with internal teams to showcase innovative products and services offered by other carriers that can translate into new revenue and markets for Verizon.
  • Work with internal teams from HQ, VCG, VMG, and VBG to promote strategic and tactical technology positions in an effort to grow and strengthen Verizon’s vendor ecosystem.
  • Strategize with standards teams inside Verizon to coordinate and gain support from global operators to Verizon contributions to standards organizations such as 3GPP and ORAN Alliance.
  • Program/Project management work streams with strategic global operators to identify emerging next generation trends, best practices, explore new use cases and product potentials.
  • Identify potential technologies to minimize current costs, in conjunction with other technology teams in the company.

What we’re looking for...

You have a very strong technical background with experience in hardware and software development, radio, wireless and wireline networks, as well as a deep understanding of new technologies and innovations coming out of incubators, universities and other innovation environments (government, technology forums, tech accelerators, etc.).

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you've one or more of the following:

  • Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Eight or more years of Wireless Network experience (Field engineer, HQ, Planning).
  • Proven experience driving technology evolution.
  • Proven experience working with technology vendors.
  • Eight or more years of experience leading large integration projects.
  • Expert understanding of Wi-Fi and Wireless Radio Access Network technology, including 3G, LTE, ZigBee, Z-Wave, etc.
  • Expert understanding of computer technologies and architectures including IP, O/S, Database, NFV, Cloud and SDN
  • Experience with different type of connected devices, from smartphones to IoT devices, cars, etc.
  • Experience in both software and hardware development.
  • Demonstrated experience in building strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, as well as superior analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to summarize complex technology topics in simple terms.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Good understanding of 5G and its main advantages.
  • Knowledge of AR/VR, video solutions, IoT, data analytics, autonomous vehicle technologies.
  • Experience in product design / development.
  • Experience in managing technology suppliers.
  • Versed in networked systems and technologies.
