The advent of a seminal shift in cloud computing architecture toward the edge, the move to 5G, and the continued rise of a software-defined network architecture present a unique opportunity for Verizon to define the next generation of technology infrastructure and ecosystems. The Director of Strategy works across and with Verizon’s entire leadership team. You will have the opportunity to shape this software-driven future and our unique ability to develop next generation platforms and products, influence technology standards, develop new business partnerships, and define the playing field for the next wave of technology innovation. You will lead teams that combine product, business, and investment acumen with data and AI-driven analysis to drive decisions and impact for Verizon and the broader technology ecosystem.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive thought leadership, analysis, and decisions around software-driven business models that leverage network virtualization, intelligence in the network, and multi-access edge compute platforms
  • Collaborate with data scientists to build analytics solutions focused on embedding AI/ML into critical business decisions and processes to elevate value-creation and customer experience
  • Lead the creation of detailed financial models to support overall strategic planning and investment requests
  • Structure and lead proof-of-concept and/or pilot engagements with technology and business partners
  • Craft and deliver actionable recommendations to senior leadership through data-driven analysis and visualization for executive decision making
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders – working closely with senior business and functional leaders on cross-functional growth initiatives and designing blueprints for new ways of working
  • Build a team – hiring, onboarding and developing a team to develop the software-defined future of networks and infrastructure

You’ll need to have…

  • Advanced university degree and/or equivalent work experience; MBA highly desired
  • 8+ years relevant experience in software
  • 3+ years in a Tier 1 management consulting firm

Even better if you have…

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Consulting or professional service experience working on SaaS models and software development
  • Proven ability to manage complex programs and drive cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and influence co-workers while fostering strong working relationships
  • Comfortable working across all levels of an organization, leveraging organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and time-management skills
  • Ability to translate complex ideas and express them in concise, simple to understand ways
  • Broad financial acumen including knowledge of valuation methodologies and ability to develop financial models.
  • Experience handling extremely confidential informationappropriately
  • Bias for action, intellectual curiosity, and passion for the mission
