What you’ll be doing...

As a part of the VZ Platform Engineering Team, the candidate will be responsible for design, implementation, support & Administration of GCPinfrastructure. You will support, implement, and maintain GCP infrastructure in Verizon and will be responsible for running GCP cluster(s).

This position is part of our AI&D organization which focuses on delivering the power of data and AI to drive our marketplace leadership through innovative solutions that create value for our customers, shareholders, V teamers and society, responsibly.

  • Design, implement, support and administration of Dataproc infrastructure initiatives.
  • Design and implement production scale GCP VM clusters, GCP IAM process
  • GCP Dataproc based projects to resolve the critical and complex technical issu
  • Support Linux users, setting up Kerberos principles, and managing HDFS, Hive, Pig, Spark, and MapReduce access for the new users
  • Work with data delivery teams to setup new Hadoop users
  • Work on LDW eco-system (Ranger, Nifi, Kafka, Atlas, Hive, Storm, pig, spark, Elastic Search, Splunk, Solr, Kyvos, Hbase, etc., and other cloud data tools)
  • Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines). Knowledge of Ansible, Jenkins, Jira, Artifactory, Git, etc.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience in creating and managing production scale Kubernetes clusters, knowledge of Kubernetes networking.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Expert in implementing and troubleshooting Hive, Spark, Pig, Storm, Kafka, Nifi, Atlas, Kyvos, Elastic Search, Solr, Splunk, HBase applications
  • General operational expertise such as good troubleshooting skills, understanding of system’s
  • Able to deploy Kubernetes cluster and perform application deployments on Kubernetes cluster, monitor critical parts of the cluster, configure high availability, schedule and configure it and take backups
  • Familiarity with open source configuration management and deployment tools such as Puppet or Chef and Linux scripting.
  • Expert in Hadoop administration with knowledge of Hortonworks/Cloudera or Map Bigdata management tools.
