What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Fleet is the driving force of the company supporting telecom in home and in business from Virginia through Rhode Island, supporting Verizon Wireless cell sites in all 50 states and the global network infrastructure in all 50 states. Fleet’s mission is to provide safe, reliable equipment in a cost efficient manner. Its vision is to continue to be a world class Fleet organization, setting and raising the standards, and to be regarded as thought leaders in the industry. Towards that end, Fleet’s Vice President, Ken Jack, received the “Fleet Executive of the Year” award from Automotive Magazine in 2019 for accomplishments in managing Verizon’s 40,000+ fleet. For Ken’s contributions to the industry in 2020,Ken became a member of the Board of Directors for NAFA (National Fleet Management Association).

The greater mission of the Systems Administration team is to continuously identify innovative ways to enhance and integrate Fleet systems and processes as well as those of its business partners. An example would be connecting the data to predictive maintenance and other initiatives that seek to optimize economics.

This role will report directly to the Fleet Technical Project Manager and lead/execute systems-related activities and enhancement projects. This position will also requires interfacing with Fleet’s business partners, Verizon Connect, and stakeholders in a customer-facing role supporting all system needs. Activities may consist of gathering business requirements and architecting solutions. You will be responsible for the development tools to write and test code to develop these solutions as well as writing documentation and SOPs. Lead the development of a strategic vision for the Systems Administration team. Additionally, you will be providing ongoing maintenance and support of all Fleet systems, working with internal Fleet as well as its business partners to address the needs of the business and help Fleet achieve its mission.

  • Design, develop, enhance and implement technical solutions to business problems and opportunities.
  • Formulate and define system scope and objectives across Fleet’s various platforms, databases, software, hardware, technologies and tools.
  • Works independently and leads assignments/projects following agile methodology.
  • Plans and coordinates the maintenance, upgrade and implementation of FleetWave, Verizon Fleets system of record.
  • Analyze and assess business processes within support areas as they relate to existing or proposed systems and applications and defines/suggests improvements where appropriate.
  • Provide written and verbal communication such as status reports, progress reports, sprint reports and documentation Fleet executives and Fleet’s business partners.
  • Ensure all customers are appropriately trained in the use of systems supported and ensures that all SOPs and training documentation are kept up to date.
  • Monitor and diagnose technical issues with production applications.
  • Assist with agile program management and project execution for all active system initiatives including the development and maintenance of project schedules, dashboards and calendars as needed.
  • Act as liaison to the business, satisfying security investigation discovery needs, audit data requests and/or accident report requests.
  • Partner with IT to optimize data storage capacity for all Fleet applications.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of IT or related business experience.
  • Experience in Excel (VBA, pivot tables, complex formulas, etc.)
  • Experience with web design applications (i.e., java script, aspx, html, etc.)
  • Experience with cloud applications.
  • Experience with SQL.
  • Knowledge of Tableau.
  • Knowledge of Jira.
  • Experience with Windows IIs environment and Oracle databases.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience in delivering technology in Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of project management software (Smartsheets MS Project, Clarity).
  • Experience troubleshooting, debugging software related issues.
  • Experience installing software, patches, and updates.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic network issues.

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field of study.
  • Strong analytical and design skills.
  • Ability to translate high level business requirements into technical designs.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to build and maintain effective rapport with stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Database skills (table designs, SQL, procedures and functions).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and responsibly with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in Teradata, Hadoop.
  • Proficiency in predictive modeling and analytics.
  • Fleet experience or an interest in fleet.
  • Experience with Chevin’s FleetWave product (or other fleet management products).
  • Experience with data analytics.
  • Working knowledge of the Google Suite.
