What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is seeking a Network Engineering and Operations Engineer who is highly motivated, and intellectually inquisitive with a passion for delivering results that matter. In this position, you will develop a mind for missions, apply network solutions, manage projects from start to finish, and ultimately solve problems that really matter. Perform surveillance, break/fix maintenance support, and outage notification on the Verizon Global VoIP (Voice Over IP), TDM and Global SS7 Switching Networks, including but not limited to Genband, SONUS, Ericsson, Siemens 5ESS, Alcatel and Tekelec.

  • Proactive network monitoring of switch and data network elements via Verizon Network Management systems.
  • Following established procedures and policies when responding to network alarms and events.
  • Performing initial trouble triage to include fault isolation and providing and/or engaging next Tier technical support as required.
  • Trouble ticket management, flash notification management, escalation management.
  • Successfully communicating technical information and status to customer service centers, technical support organizations and Verizon management teams.
  • Clearly communicate status of work activities both verbally and written.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

You’ll need to have:

  • Associate’s degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications equipment and technologies, such as Telephony Switching, Data Communications, Network Routers, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow documented processes and procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, written, and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external organizations as necessary coordinating, troubleshooting, and driving remediation of network events.
  • Proven ability to provide timely and accurate network information to management and other groups during network events and major outages.
  • Demonstrable skill in scripting languages (e.g., Python, No-JS, Perl).
