What you’ll be doing...

The Director of Consumer Media Strategy will oversee the media activations for the Verizon Consumer Group (VCG). The role sits within the Media & Engagement organization and includes primary decision making ability as well as guidance to agencies, direct reports, and Business Unit (BU) Marketing. The Director will be responsible for Media Strategy and Media Planning & Buying for all communication across consumer general market and segments, which includes Brand, Product launches, Video (all screens), Streaming Audio and Integrations, and Data Driven / Data Informed Media for Consumer Mobility, Residential, Visible, and Value-Segment business.

The Director will lead strategy and implementation of cross-channel media for the largest portion of the Verizon business. This role also works closely with other internal teams, which includes centralized media functions and external agencies, including key partners.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic responsibilities include Media Planning & Buying for Mobility, Residential, Accessories, Pre-Paid, Credit Card and Segments with activity-spanning Devices, Product launches, Plans, seasonal messaging, and key initiatives. Combination of national and market-level activity.
  • Incorporate all media touch points (display, video, audio, high impact, etc.), targeting key segments (i.e. Millennials, Multicultural).
  • Leverage data tactics across channels to further bolster the data informed portions of our plans with data driven decisions and personalized messaging.
  • Drive demand for new customer acquisition to meet gross add goals for the business.
  • Incorporate programs and tactics that drive loyalty and activates the customer base to drive equipment upgrades and accessories sales.
  • Develop Marketing partnerships with national and local media companies.
  • Establish and maintain close partnerships with the Creative, Marketing Insights, Marketing Effectiveness, and Internet Sales Operation teams.
  • Own message management calendar, as well as billing and invoicing.
    • Performance Reporting (weekly, bi-weekly, quarterly)
    • Tracking commitments with key partners for the business
    • Quarterly Business Reviews with Key Partners
  • Manage Agency relationship, inclusive of day-to-day management, Agency Review Process, and MSA negation
  • Lead Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives with Agency and media partners, driving leadership and impact

What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of media planning and buying experience, spanning all media types; digital experience is key
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams
  • Ability to translate marketing strategy into an effective media strategy, providing direction to media agencies
  • Detail-oriented and results driven
  • Passionate for innovation and new technologies
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records
  • Ability to analyze data, monitor campaigns for improvements, and ensure campaign goals are being fully met
  • Strong experience using Google Docs, Microsoft Office software including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
