What you’ll be doing...

You will be primarily responsiblefor overseeing CDS applications that support 4G/5G Femtocell FCC, and Macro updates to mesh the network extender product/network with the larger RAN (Radio Access Network). You will also beresponsible for teaming with existing CDS application owners that support 3G/4G/5G Ubicell/Femtocell, 3G/4G/5G UbiCell/FemtoCell Authentication, Femto Gateways, 5G SmallCell Authentication, and Wireless Voicemail. You’ll work with planning, engineering, operations, and VCP tenant operation functions for all systems within the scope of the CDS team. You will work with vendors and various budget teams to help define yearly capital budget/spend plans and ensure execution according to approved plans.

  • Working closely with Cross Functional Teams and collaborating on optimal solutions for current and future Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP) Projects.
  • Providing mentoring to other team members and groups.
  • Detecting and resolving issues in a proactive manner before they can impact the platform or customers.
  • Driving the team and vendors to adopt, migrate and evolve applications in the VCP environment.
  • Distributing workload and responsibilities to ensure timely completion and minimize impact to existing services.
  • Collaborating with internal Verizon organizations to develop, design, size, and adjust data flow models to ensure applications meet availability, performance, capacity, and security requirements and guidelines.
  • Driving technology, operational and cost innovation within the team and with broader partners.
  • Providing direction for effectively managing vendors.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Database experience/knowledge.
  • Knowledge of the RAN (from the UE to the Core).
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Coding/Programming ability.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing, virtualization technologies, and software defined networking.
  • Knowledge of OpenStack or equivalent infrastructure framework technology in a cloud computing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Linux or other UNIX-based OS's.
  • Strong software development (e.g. C++, Java, etc.) capability.
  • Experience with distributed storage solutions (Ceph, Swift, other).
  • Knowledge of Programming or Scripting Skills (Perl, Python, etc.).
  • Experience with monitoring tools (i.e. IRIS, SevOne, NetScout, Grafana).
  • Experience working modern configuration management tools (i.e. Puppet, Ansible, Gitlab).
  • Experience with networking concepts and protocols (i.e. SDN, NFV).
  • Microsoft Excel proficiency.
