What you’ll be doing...

You will be leading one of our cross functional software development teams, and have the responsibility to grow and develop your team, its members, and help it achieve success in delivering components for our award winning SAAS Fleet Management products, Reveal & Fleet. You will be working out of our Christchurch office (work from home a possibility), in a hands-on capacity and will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplined squad in an agile environment.

Within the Channel and Provisioning team you will be a leader in a very dynamic and successful team, continuously delivering value in assisting customers to: onboard, add new products & services including interacting with third-party integrations. You will have strong input into building your team, and adapting & improving our methodologies and applying technology to stay the best in what we are doing: providing innovative fleet tracking software to SMBs all around the world! A deep understanding of software architectures, platforms and paradigms are essential for this role.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the people on your team. We expect a Squad Lead to lead by example in every area, none more so than in the hands on development of our people and our products
• Develop and design domain orientated microservices and APIs and/or modern web based interfaces
• Be the person whom your team look up to for technical guidance
• Be a decision maker and ensure your team comes on the journey once a decision is made
• Lead a Cross Functional Team (CFT): you will lead a team of engineers and collaborate with product owners, user experience teams, support teams and other roles to meet customer and business needs
• Ensure blockers are getting actioned and resolved
• Be the primary contact for stakeholders and foster relationships outside of your direct squad
• Ensure collaboration with architects or principal engineers to ensure we are building the right solution, the right way
• Advocate for and promote the capabilities of your squad within the organisation
• Be a champion of technical excellence and quality within the squad
• Ensuring that the team works together to meet business requirements, and is applying continuous integration and continuous deployment
• Ensure that the team is contributing to and achieving high automation test coverage
• Ensure that code written is always to a high standard and that there is a robust code review process in place
• Be a champion of process within the team
• Ensure the team understands the processes we follow, and lead efforts in continuous improvement
• Optimise for your squad’s specific needs and strengths
• Participate in the hiring process through CV Reviews, Code Reviews, Phone Screens, and Technical interviews
• Ensure that the onboarding experience of new hires and transfers into the squad is valuable and repeatable

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in one of the following: .NET, Angular, QA Automation, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience with web services.

Even better if you have:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline.
• Strong experience in agile/lean methodologies and processes (ideally Kanban) leading process improvements and engineering disciplines.
• Excellent communication skills both written and oral - with experience in working with engineering and product groups.
• Ability to lead systems analysis with application design individually and with an architecture team to deliver detailed application specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and /or guide a team.
• Experience mentoring junior developers.
• Experience working in larger project and team environments with product, application support and operations teams.
• Passionate about solving both technical and business problems, and a desire to be operating strategically.
• A passionate software developer with a strong interest in new and emerging technologies and the ability to drive technical change.
• Demonstrated delivery of major projects with a focus on quality and productivity in a CI/CD environment.
• Experience in working on large products with multiple teams contributing to the same code base.
• Experience in measuring and improving performance of production systems.
• Experience in highly scalable, highly available platforms.
• Expert level understanding of Object Oriented/SOLID Design principles and practices.
• Experience with common patterns in distributed systems (REST, SOA, DDD).
• Experience working with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines.
• Understanding of GIT or related source control technology.
• Knowledge of AWS based architectures and services.
