As part of this team, you will play a critical role in our network transformation through building a unified network across all lines of business and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of our customers connected.
This position is required to provide operational support for the CHF/OCS suite of services nationally, including Prepaid, Usage Controls, Account Group Share, Real Time Reporting, eSM, eCGS, D/R Routers, and M2M. OCS is a multi-departmental national platform comprised of 100+ network elements. The designs for OCS require in-depth knowledge of the hardware, software, and call flows. The Sr. Engineer Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operations for multiple platforms, rotational on-call support of the OCS network elements, capacity and demand visibility, and execution of the POR (Plan of Record).
This position will also be involved in migrating and supporting applications from bare metal equipment to the VCP core.

• Maintaining and updating a subset of network elements for re-occurring software and hardware updates to stay in front of business required features.
• Operate the best networks and systems through technical expertise of the team and effective outage prevention/resolution.
• Operate best-in-class legacy and Virtual Network Operations Systems through technical expertise of the team, active vendor management, and effective outage prevention/resolution; measured via targeted, useful KPI’s.
• Performing fault isolation, triaging, and repairing network events to ensure the health of our network.
• Working with external and internal Verizon organizations to coordinate and troubleshoot network events.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

• This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.
• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Three or more years of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of 3G and 4G call flows, including the network elements for legacy and virtualized environments
• Experience with Linux, TCP/IP, and Python scripting.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• A degree.
• Five or more years of experience in Network Operations.
• Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment while multitasking.
• Experience working in a 24x7 Network Operations Center including working in a shift work environment.
• Knowledge of IP telecommunication equipment and technologies (Cisco, Juniper, Adtran, Calix, HP).
• Knowledge of cloud-based environments, including SDN, Openstack, VCP.
