What you’ll be doing...

You will be responsible for ensuring service delivery and reliability of Verizon’s world class Voice, Video, and Data networks at the best cost. We are transforming our culture and network to enhance the employee and customer experience, and you play a vital role in crafting and achieving that vision, finding ways to improve business results every day. Your role will involve leading and developing a high-performing 24x7 team to effectively deliver on business goals. Safety, quality issues, workforce performance, feedback and training, and labor relations will all be on your radar.

  • Leading, motivating, and developing a diverse team of 15+ bargained for Associate employees that perform the installation, maintenance, preventative maintenance, and asset accounting activities on TDM Switching, Transport, FiOS/FTTP PON, and Power infrastructure within Verizon’s Central Office facilities.
  • Monitoring internal metrics/stats and establishing supportive or corrective action plans to mitigate service, safety, or performance issues.
  • Driving safety, quality, and productivity through regular site and team visits, work observations, and inspections.
  • Removing barriers and solving problems to help your team be productive.
  • Providing technical assistance and communicating technical information and status to customer service centers, technical support organizations, and management teams.
  • Responding to out-of-hours outages, emergencies and/or escalations, as well as coordinating the management, and communication, of major network outages.

What we’re looking for...

You’re organized, motivated, detail-oriented, and known for your sound judgment. Solving problems creatively and constantly looking for ways to improve processes are some of your strengths. You’re comfortable communicating expectations, holding people accountable for their performance against those expectations, and you’re able to inspire and engage diverse groups to do their best work. People count on you for your ability to build relationships at all levels and to communicate and address business results, plans, or opportunities.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to work extended hours when necessary, including weekends/holidays and after hours and on call as required for the needs of the business.
  • Strong PC experience (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite).
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree in business administration, business management, or engineering.
  • Four or more years of knowledge or experience of installation, maintenance, or surveillance of copper, fiber, or radio access technologies.
  • Experience successfully leading teams through cultural transformation, with proven track record of performance in productivity, quality and safety measurements.
  • Experience providing training, feedback and motivation to employees.
  • Experience in administering processes and policies as they relate to: safety, attendance, performance, work rules and code of conduct.
  • Strong organizational, time-priority management and results oriented leadership skills.
  • Experience leading unionized employees or knowledge of employment/labor laws.
  • Experience with communication systems and tools.
  • Experience with Network Facility technologies/infrastructure (i.e. Transport, FTTP PON, LAN/WAN, and TDM Switching, AC/DC power infrastructure, and engineering or installation standards (ex. IP72202).
  • Experience with operations support systems (i.e. CoFEE, vRepair, MASTARS, VTS, ECHO/OASIS, Espresso, ETMS, BAAIS National, Smarts, F & E, NetPro, MECCA, TCOMS).
