What you’ll be doing...

Your primary responsibility will be to provide oversight of accounting and compliance for the relevant country / region, meeting both local statutory and US GAAP reporting standards. You’ll be a key contributor to our International Accounting Team, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency that our Finance team is known for. You’ll also be part of creating a great environment for the team by providing clarity, with your expertise and feedback. And you’ll be on constant lookout for ways to use technology to streamline our processes.

Specific responsibilities include:

• Statutory accounting & reporting - Own the preparation, quality and filing of statutory accounts including Branch consolidations for relevant local statutory entities (including Belgium) within specified deadlines. Assist in board and WC meeting preparation financial data. Manage local outsourced accountants (where applicable) to ensure accounting and filing compliance
• Audit Support - Build a good working relationship with external auditors, managing their requests and coordinating responses to queries and audit action points. Coordination with EY central and local teams
• Ownership of transfer pricing calculations
• Period end reporting - ownership of the production, review and analysis of P&L and B/S
• Monthly Blackline balance sheet reconciliations - preparation.
• Provide Accounting input for the preparation of VAT returns, CIT, Intrastat, Statutory and other statistical returns.
• Provide Accounting support for tax audits as required.
• Provide guarantee for the integrity of local ledgers, ensuring the numbers are materially correct, and appropriate accounting treatment has been applied.
• Keep up to date with local compliance requirements.
• Oversee Finance document retention in compliance with both local laws and Verizon policies.
• Build a good working relationship with other areas of Finance and the business, as well as external stakeholders while supporting adherence to local statutory requirements in a timely manner
• Support change management within the wider International Finance Team.
• Contribute in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems, procedures and policies for the group; leverages system and technology knowledge to drive simplification efforts.
• Be SME and key contributor to the integration of acquisitions into Verizon within countries of responsibility, aligning processes, structures and controls to Verizon’s best practices

What we’re looking for...

You’ve got accounting expertise in Financial Accounting and US GAAP, a natural team player, and an ability to work effectively with your peers in other functions. You are comfortable managing data from multiple sources. You can describe complex accounting concepts in a simple way, you work well across functions and take ownership of the tasks that have been assigned to you. You are someone comfortable working under pressure and tight deadlines. You are a self starter with excellent prioritization skills.

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
• ACCA, ACA or CIMA certified.
• Experience of statutory reporting/audit.
• Excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one of the following:

• Fluency in other languages used in EMEA
• Large or medium size company accounting experience.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting systems and applications such as SAP, SAP 4 Hana and Blackline
• Familiar with international business & accounting practices and processes including local statutory reporting in IFRS plus US GAAP
• Experience managing the activities across multiple countries within the Region and with experience of transitioning activities
• Experience designing and implementing accounting systems, running continuous improvement projects, and conducting root cause analysis.
• Experience in the technology or telecommunications industry
