What you’ll be doing...

The BI Center of Excellence under Verizon Connect will play a pivotal role in helping drive business transformation by creating a single source of truth for business performance and diagnostics to enable faster flow of information. The Data Governance and Architecture team specializes in cross functional data management and data governance initiatives providing insight and guidance towards data integrity across business units. The Data Governance Consultant will establish, promote and evolve business processes that adhere to policies and standards that promote governance through the data lifecycle. The position will work closely with cross enterprise stakeholders including legal, Internal audit, security teams, technology to design new business process and data management capabilities and drive improvements, efficiencies and controls around data management. This will advance the objectives of the VZC BI Center of Excellence data governance program, promote data governance policies and standards and enable automation of privacy compliance controls.

You will report to the Principal of Data Governanceto help analyze current data management processes and determine appropriate re-engineering of process to drive enforcement of proper data management practices the data catalog initiative for successful design, implementation, end user training and adoption. You will interface with cross functional teams to roll-out the enterprise data catalog integrated with data access workflow and lineage. The incumbent will coordinate strategy and play a vital role in driving high visibility projects.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location in any one of many large US Verizon offices, this includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

  • Collaborate with resources from the Business, IT and operations functions, to achieve governance objectives; resolve governance issues with functional representatives

  • Build data assets that enhance the quality of overall data structures (Data dictionary) feeding the data science, Business intelligence and Data analytics program.

  • Develop and monitor the organizational data metrics to continuously align data needs with the privacy compliance monitoring requirements and data governance.

  • Provide progress reports to management and oversee periodic updates to the Governance Roadmap.

  • Assess Data Maturity based on industry standard models & develop and collect monthly KPIs for the Data Governance program.

  • Align data initiatives and projects to the business and technology strategy.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • One or more year of Data Management lead experience.
  • Experience in business process re-engineering.
  • Experience defining or building data catalog products and roll-out strategy.
  • Knowledge in the data privacy regulatory landscape: GDPR/ CPRA.
  • Experience with SQL and Excel.
  • Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with various workgroups and to build rapport with each.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Experience in database query languages, particularly SQL.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and determine priorities.
  • Experience in drafting and managing data policies, business data processes, data catalogs, and business glossaries.
  • SFDC experience.
