What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon Corporate Information Security (CIS) organization securely enables the business by protecting assets and information across Verizon networks, infrastructure and applications. CIS integrates cybersecurity governance, policies, technologies and operations across Verizon, and works to incorporate security into the design of technology systems and services. The primary focus of this position will be responsible for advancing our Malware RE program.

Additionally, the Principal position will also provide full lifecycle digital forensic services to many business units within Verizon. The Team engages in matters of varied scope and subject to further the threat response and investigative mission at Verizon through the analysis of digital evidence of all types, including workstations, servers, smartphones, tablets, small scale devices and cloud computing. The Principal must work on large-scale projects and have in depth knowledge of network security design and implementation as well as business management skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining strong working relationships with business groups within Verizon, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
  • Providing consultation of digital forensic and Malware RE capabilities to our cyber security partners.
  • Managing assigned cases and projects to complete in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining an awareness of incident deadlines and timeliness of necessary reports to further the investigative process.
  • Making recommendations on changes to processes and procedures within the end-to-end RE capability workflow.
  • Communicating with other senior analysts and team management on current trends and solutions.
  • Providing in-house training by authoring documentation and live demonstration.
  • Mentoring Analyst I-IV team members providing assistance and coaching in the completion of their assigned cases and projects.
  • Providing management with feedback and recommendations as needed.
  • Conducting advanced digital forensic examinations and analysis on Windows, Apple, Linux and other operating system based computers, mobile devices and computer networks relating to various alerts, compromises, threats and violations.
  • Advanced triage remote/live systems, identifying and collecting files of forensic relevance and those related to the overall objectives of the examination.
  • Extracting and analyzing data from mobile devices.
  • Processing and analyzing results of investigations and providing thorough reporting to case stakeholders and senior team members with detailed explanation of results.
  • Offering guidance and advice in digital forensics as it relates to investigations and cyber incidents,
  • Authoring expert reports at a highly professional level, properly documenting all processes and findings, and providing recommendations in identifying and remediating security gaps identified throughout the investigation.
  • Collecting and cataloging information in support of litigation which may at times include providing expert testimony.
  • Providing results of analysis to management with justification for results.
  • Providing feedback to management on mid-level analysts who they have assisted.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • An advanced (MA/MS or higher) degree in digital forensics or related course of study.
  • Advanced proficiency in the examination of Windows, Unix/Linux, and Apple operating systems, mobile devices and network forensics.
  • Advanced proficiency in reverse engineering and code/scripting languages.
  • Experience with Cloud virtualization, including AWS, Google and Oracle, and proficient in the digital forensic collection, triage and examination of these.
  • Related certification, such as A+, Security +, CCFE, CCE, DFCP, GFCE, GFCA, GREM, EnCE or comparable.
  • Experience, training or certification with various digital forensics and Malware tools such as SIFT and Remnux, Ida Pro / Ghidra, WinHex, PEid, EnCase Endpoint Investigator, Magnet Axiom, X-Ways Forensic, Blacklight, Cellebrite or comparable.
  • Advanced knowledge of Malware Reverse engineering.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Experience presenting to executive and senior leadership.
  • Strong relationship skills and collaborative style to enable success across multiple partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with FRCP expert witness rules, expert witness testimony and litigation support.
  • Forensics investigations experience in a large corporate environment
