What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is investing in its network to improve the way we live, work, and communicate. The foundation of our Network Evolution Plan is the Intelligent Edge Network (iEN). iEN is a next generation network architecture which unifies Access, Edge and Core infrastructures supported by directional operational systems across Verizon.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of an established team in a fast-paced environment that delivers significant business benefits and paves the way to enable new operating models in a rapidly converging environment, driving the integration of our wireline and wireless networks, as well as products and systems. As a Program/Project Sr. Manager in the iEN Program Management Office (PMO) team you will play a critical role in iEN Strategy, Planning and Implementation. You will manage external vendors contracted to help drive the delivery of the business benefits associated with the iEN business case. You will support the development of customer-centric circuit migration plans working with the LOBs, and supporting the mapping of products from legacy networks to directional iEN. Furthermore, you will help identify opportunities within the scope of the program and develop project plans that will unlock additional cash flow benefit from the iEN program in the areas of capital efficiency and expense reduction.

  • Working in close partnership with internal business units including Product, Network, Planning, IT, Finance, and Operations teams from all Verizon Lines of Business (GE, VBM, VPS) to design, deliver and implement the iEN.
  • Delivering high visibility, strategic initiatives with critical path roadmaps that include hardware, software, vendor, testing, inventory, contract, funding, etc.
  • Lead development of detailed financial models including projections, valuation and investment return analyses
  • Integrating business and operational planning with ongoing network technology builds to support LOB and functional operational planning and execution.
  • Providing day-to-day project execution guidance across all functional and technical organizations.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional team to deliver on agile roadmap with quality and consistency.
  • Working very closely with product managers and functional managers to monitor project progress, anticipating and reducing risks.
  • Establishing performance goals and KPI metrics.

***This role can be located in of any US based Verizon hub location.***

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
  • Experience in a top strategy consulting firm.
  • Experience in business strategy, operations strategy and business development.
  • Experience with managing and orchestrating complex network and/or technology focused programs
  • Experience working with C-suite leadership in driving “big bet” strategic campaigns, with initiatives running across multiple functions, developing strategies and priorities to maximize value.
  • Experience working in various functional domains to develop a deep and comprehensive understanding of complex business and operating models.
  • Experience in strategy development in the following: project formulation, hypotheses development, financial and business modeling, strategic options identification, consensus building and implementation.
  • Strong analytical, project management and change management skills to provide solid business conclusions and recommendations.
  • International experience with telecom and technology companies is considered a critical advantage.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, manage vendors and /or multiple projects/priorities at once, establish timelines/milestones to achieve objectives.
  • Experience with iEN terminology/technology: Unified Transport, Multi Service Edge, Next Gen Packet Optical Network, Optical Distributed Network, Access Unification, One Fiber.
  • Strong financial and business knowledge (business case development, cost optimization strategies, cost benefit analysis, technology development, operating model excellence, etc.).
  • Strong constructive skills to align and collaborate with business and technical teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of employees across the business; ability to influence and negotiate and drive cross-functional stakeholder management.
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in business requirements and technology.
  • Ability to work with moderate-to-large and geographically diverse teams.
