What you’ll be doing...

The role’s responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Engage Site Reliability Engineering(SRE) methodology to drive incident management related root cause determination.
  • Drive strategy to adopt Chaos Engineering methodology along with SRE to prevent incidents.
  • Design and development of a high traffic, distributed, resilient, modern web application framework.
  • Developing Machine Learning models to analyze operational data, identify trends and patterns, determine root cause of an issue through the model, use the model to predict events based on symptoms before they become major issues.
  • Lead the SAFE agile process for the SRE team, plan sprints, execute according to committed timeline, delegate to various employees and contractors part of the team.
  • Provide technical leadership, coach and mentor the team members, and collaborate globally with employees and contractors, on the design and development of AWS Cloud and Docker/Kubernetes resources utilized by the platform.
  • Regularly strategize with the leaders of each NS director and above team for Engineering, Network planning and Service Assurance to evaluate the reliability of the systems and plan improvements where needed. Negotiate prioritization of reliability improvements with domain and business leaders.
  • Keep abreast of technological developments in the field of SRE in the industry and create a roadmap for Verizon GTE to adopt them according to needs.
  • Engage and drive shape of SRE technology industry in joint forums like TMForum, etc.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

What you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or four or more years of experience.
  • Six or more years of revelent experience.
  • Experience to include development, deployment and support on Linux platforms in large scale user environments.
  • Experience in frontend and backend development using Java, Spring Boot, Node.JS, Angular 5+, Python, JavaScript.
  • Six or more years of experience in Linux, networking, HTTP, DNS, SSL, TCP/IP troubleshooting
  • Experience in troubleshooting web traffic from front end to backend to identify the issue.
  • Experience with monitoring or logging tools such as New Relic, Splunk, Catchpoint, Piwik, etc.Database technologies - PostgreSQL or Oracle
  • Knowledge of scripting language such as Python

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A Master's degree.
  • Experience in AI/ML programming using TensorFlow or PyTorch, AWS SageMaker.
  • Experience in AWS.
  • Experience deploying microservices onto container platforms: Docker, Kubernetes, Serverless AWS Lambda.
  • An API-first mindset.
  • Experience developing APIs, and experience with API Management platforms.
  • Experience developing Machine Learning models to analyze operational data, identify trends and patterns, determine root cause of an issue through the model, use the model to predict events based on symptoms before they become major issues
  • Ability to train and deploy the ML model into production.
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD process implementation using JIRA, Jenkins, Ansible
  • AWS certification.
