What you’ll be doing...

This position supports the Consumer and Business Development organizations as a critical part of the product development lifecycle. You’ll be a key resource within the procurement team ensuring that projects are delivered on time and on budget. You’ll partner with other areas of the business, like sourcing and finance to be sure that all resources and purchases are ready when needed. We’re looking for you to process purchase orders and assist with vendor onboarding to allow the development teams to plan, create and deliver the products Verizon depends on to meet our commitments to revenue and our customers. This position will require the management of purchasing requests and verifying contracts, scrutinizing deliverables, and strategically linking all pertinent information with the correct funding source. Providing direction and recommendations on the correct coding and system selection for the best procurement results. Investigating all open purchases to determine when Verizon can confirm receipt of the goods and provide guidance to the accounts payable team that the vendor may now be paid. This includes analyzing all backup information and selecting the most appropriate evidence to use when completing the subsequent systematic actions. Continued review and analysis of vendor information/status to identify areas of improvement and provide direction to peer organizations on corrective updates. Other key success factors include the establishment of relationships, dialogues, and exchange of information with buyers, vendors, peer organizations, and management for the purposes of data collection to better manage and predict the needs of the organization for both future and existing procurement transactions. This allows for leaders to have a better view of spending, and budget planning along with ensuring all stakeholder input is analyzed. Assisting leaders to properly plan for future capex and opex budgets. Provide regular spend readout and outlook to management to ensure clear alignment and ensure teams are staying aligned with expected and planned expenditures.

Responsibilities:

  • Management of purchasing requests and verifying contracts, scrutinizing deliverables, and strategically linking all pertinent information with the correct funding source
  • Investigating all open purchases to determine when Verizon can confirm receipt of the goods and provide guidance to the accounts payable team that the vendor may now be paid.
  • Managing all aspects of several projects and tracking key outcomes, including financials.
  • Partnering with others both inside and outside to ensure successful completion of projects.
  • Defining and ensuring quality standards and project policies are met.
  • Reporting progress and outcomes in various functions and levels.
  • Processing quotes from the entire organization in a timely manner to meet business requirements
  • Management and follow up with teams to ensure POs are received and invoiced
  • Management of the overall capital and expense expenditures of the organization to ensure each team is spending as planned.
  • Planning for yearly capital and expense budgets with all teams in the organization.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Two or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Two years of procurement experience
  • Two years of product development experience
  • Two years experience working with contracts
  • Experience in JIRA ticketing system
  • Experiencein SAP and Peoplesoft purchasing systems, which must include Ariba/1ERP versions.
  • Experience in MS Office and Google suite
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written skills
  • Experience working with executives and leadership
  • Ability to change direction often and effectively
  • Ability to work independently
  • Attention to detai skillsl.
  • Managingand trackingpurchases experience.
  • Extensive work experience in managing vendors.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft, 1ERP/Ariba, and SAP.
  • Experience creating and managing purchase orders and purchase reqs within Verizon.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and tracking against the capital plans.
  • Experience with Verizon’s vendors.
