This position will be responsible for supporting the Corporate Strategy group at Verizon – specifically Product and New Growth Strategy within our Strategy Development team.

The Verizon Corporate Strategy group works with business unit leaders, key stakeholders and external advisors to drive long-term growth and shareholder value. The Strategy Development team works across the senior and executive leaders at Verizon, as a critical lever to drive portfolio evolution, and pursuit of our revenue goals. Not only does the team have a high degree of regular visibility into senior executive leaders, and a direct line of communication to the Chief Strategy Officer, but working cross-functionally at both leadership and operational levels the team acts as a force multiplier to:Pursue new business and growth opportunities (through both organic and inorganic activities), identify and define strategic activities on emerging business models, and align long term product roadmaps, development efforts, and innovative pursuits.

With one eye on Verizon’s long term strategic plan, and the other on execution efforts, the Strategy Development team is integral in enabling the company’s managers to deliver the outcomes that continue to make Verizon one of the leading companies in the world of business.Reporting to the Director of Product and New Growth Strategy, youwill be a key member in driving the future of Strategy Development execution. The Product and New Growth Strategy team is charged with helping to make Verizon’s product and business plans real. Acting as a force multiplier for execution on the long term strategy in a company transforming the future of connectivity for businesses, consumers, and digital devices, there really is no more exciting place to be!

You will be a catalyst for delivering a cohesive longer term product roadmap and ensuring alignment between senior leaders, operational executors - their product - and the achievement of Verizon’s long term strategic goals. This high visibility position will work with product, strategy and governance leaders across the company to help drive to help shape the future direction of Verizon’s growth.

  • Lead the charge in curating a Verizon-wide product portfolio that captures varying levels of product development, technology exploration, fidelity and certainty. Seamlessly translate that product portfolio into roadmaps, strategic documents, and other critical materials to enable informed decision making.
  • Engage with leaders across Verizon to understand and synthesize the alignment of strategic objectives with the product efforts.
  • Identify, socialize and track key success metrics, drivers, and customer needs being delivered across the horizons of time, spheres of product and areas of responsibility.
  • Engage with stakeholders and managers charged with delivering and managing products to drive alignment and understanding of the intersections of their areas of focus with the Verizon strategy. Synthesize and understand their challenges and act as a resource to bring them together with other experts that can lead to successful collaboration and co-creation.
  • Be the wizard behind the curtain in helping to drive outcomes and accelerate next steps in product forums, product councils and other product related conversations.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You will be a catalyst for change and thus must be comfortable with ambiguity, leading across multiple teams and working with all levels of the organization to get results. You are relentless in your customer-first mentality, and understand that in driving successful product understanding the customer is key. You thrive in goal oriented, autonomous situations, but recognize how to make best use of all the tools at your disposal (including ready access to supportive executives that are backing your play). You hold yourself to a high level of accountability, and like to measure your contributions by the outcomes you help deliver. You are a story-telling whiz, and love the engagement that comes with working with the people across the table (or video conference) from you - and not just the materials they are presenting. You have an innate skill to make those sitting across the table from you feel special - and engage with you even when you’re asking them to go the extra mile.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • MBA or equivalent degree from a Top Tier program.
  • Experience managing small teams.
  • Experience working in a large organization, in a matrixed role/area of responsibility, influencing executive stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational and task management skills, and detailed exposure to creating and or running governance/program management.
  • A clear understanding for the delicate balancing acts needed to drive outcomes without managerial responsibility and a strong tool kit for getting results cross-functionally.
  • Strong communications skills and the ability to construct and tell a story.
  • An ability to think in a customer centric way while equally being able to pivot around new ideas in an agile fashion.
  • Willingness to try and fail with new concepts and new ways of thinking. Comfortability with a level of uncertainty for outcomes.
