When you join Verizon
Verizon is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect across the globe. We’re a diverse network of people driven by our shared ambition to shape a better future. Here, we have the ability to learn and grow at the speed of technology, and the space to create within every role. Together, we are moving the world forward – and you can too. Dream it. Build it. Do it here.
What you’ll be doing...
As a member of Verizon’s Global Network Management (GNM) team, you will support the organization as a Product Owner on the End-to-End Automation (E2EA) SAFe ART – also known as a Scaled Agile Framework Agile Release Train. E2EA’s goal is to develop and deliver automation functionality for multiple network management teams to aid in the removal of busy work and increasing a Network Engineer’s focus on root cause network troubles. Additionally, E2EA provides support for new products, networks, services, and technologies as prioritized by Product Management teams for such things as 5G, Fios Over iEN, Fixed Wireless Access, and more.
A Product Owner (PO) on the E2EA ART will have responsibility for one of a wide range of GNM systems and functionalities, which include but are not limited to: workflow automation, circuit testing, infrastructure services, predictive thresholding/analytics, ticketing, troubleshooting/mitigation capabilities, and user interface/experience. Due to the underlying importance of these systems and functionalities, a PO’s ability to make business appropriate decisions autonomously is one of the position’s key responsibilities. Additionally, at times a PO’s team plan cannot meet the needs of the business, so adjustments must be made to achieve what is possible with as little waste as possible as quickly as possible. As such, the PO will own this decision process in consultation with the ART’s Product Manager and Release Train Engineer, but may not have time to review them with other layers of the SAFe structure such as System Architecture, Solution Architecture, and System SMEs. Therefore, the PO must effectively navigate with both the business and the development team to decide on how to provide the most value possible, which will include deciding on when to break apart a business feature and when to challenge Product Management’s job sizing and/or expectations. The PO must be comfortable withconflict and expressing concerns with the wisdom of knowing when to engage which mechanism.
