What you’ll be doing...

The purpose of the PS Operations organization is to drive increased sales revenue and maximize the margins on each project in partnership with the practice delivery teams within professional services supporting Verizon Business Group (VBG). We measure success by ensuring we can help the teams achieve the revenue and margin targets for each practice as well as at the overall consolidated level. As part of the PS Operations team, the Resource Management Team (RDM) has the following areas of corporate accountability and ownership within the overall organization:

  • Resource planning at a project level, day-to-day operations
  • Managing resource optimization and ensure we staff each project to maximize delivery milestones and profitability of the deal as sold
  • Project delivery acceleration
  • Own the processes to ensure we are tightly aligned on Direct and Indirect labor costs
  • Staffing Compliance, Audit and Regulatory Management to ensure proper governance practices are being implemented
  • PS / VBG Corporate Cross-Functional System and Process Management and Evolution, including ERP.
  • Aid in the development, planning, and rollout of best resource management practices and manage day-to-day operations with careful execution tied back to the strategy. Contribute to development of standard
  • Operating model and improvement roadmaps, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization, implement and execute mechanisms to capture resource demand and capacity plans, allowing for real-time data availability for decision-making, continuously review/analyze resource demand and capacity.
  • Ensure that all partner teams – Delivery, Project Management, HR, Sales, Transformation, BI, etc. are all operating in alignment to the plan by auditing for gaps and working cross-departmentally on communication, training, and documentation. Establish processes and conformance metrics to ensure high levels of data quality, process consistency, and attainment of staffing service level objectives;
  • Impact full-cycle of project delivery in backlogs and future funnels to enhance operational procedures, systems and results; make independent decisions with a significant impact to the business; exercise good judgment in developing new work methods with accountability for project or program results, Drive regular cadence around resource utilization, capacity planning, skills management, and subcontract resource needs;
  • Successfully be able to negotiate staffing conflicts through creative staffing solutions and alternatives, Support resource development plans by driving the framework for assignment and tracking of training activities, Manage organizational utilization;
  • Practice people leadership by guiding the team through day-to-day communication and alignment to ensure we are enabling sustainable growth and development of the Professional Services organization. Lead, mentor and develop Professional Services Resource Management team to execute the strategy for resource management, foster an environment of continuous improvement, and deliver operational excellence day in and day out, Build strong partnership with cross functional organizations to gain knowledge of active pipelines and analyze information to influence forecasting models.
  • Business leadership focus is to lead capacity management and resourcing for all potential and assigned projects. This position requires that the individual be the liaison among the Professional Services organization
  • Delivery Leaders as it relates to resourcing across all work. The Sr. Manager will also work directly with Talent Acquisition and HR to facilitate appropriate staffing across the department based on aggregate understanding of project requirements. Manage the annual workforce planning and budgeting exercise for Professional Services across all practices;
  • Delegate work to direct reports and their team members. You must also ensure that project resourcing is managed in order to assure timely delivery and must communicate to appropriate Project Managers resourcing issues that may impact scheduled deadlines. It is also required that this position enforce company processes by utilizing and requesting allProject Managers use proper procedures when requesting resources.

Ideal candidates should possess a high level of analytical skills and have an eye for detail and accuracy. Making sense of quantitative data is a real strength needed in this role, with the ability to manage and synthesize complex information into easily understood insights. The person in this role will be looked upon to solve problems and dig deep into issues. The candidate will need to be more than equipped to build strong, lasting, trusting relationships.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in consulting.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in resource management for large multinational services organizations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • A valid Driver's License.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Resource Management Certified Professional.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
