What you’ll be doing...

You will be a part of the Global Network & Technology organization focusing on the strategic technology evolution across our organization specifically with onboarding and orchestration of virtualized network functions. As part of this team you will work on the overall deployment, design and feature roadmap for our orchestration solution. You’ll have a positive impact on our organization and change the way that our customers live, work, and play.

As a full-stack automation developer, you will work with fellow engineers and program managers to build automation to enable the redesign of day-to-day wireline & wireless network operations functions required to support the adoption of software-defined networks, while incorporating newly defined DevOps functions, an end-to-end service assurance framework and automation principles to work towards a zero-touch operating environment. You will also lead and actively participate in meetings, program updates, and presentations to senior leaders (Director level).

  • Work with world-class engineers involved in virtualizing network functions to develop automation and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of VNFs on OpenStack-based Verizon Cloud Platform (VCP), Azure and/or AWS.
  • Work with senior technical leads and implement the business needs of automated onboarding & orchestration to continuously enhance Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CICD tool chain with a goal of creating a stable, repeatable platform that can be integrated with customer-facing portals, Orchestrators, VNF Managers, and VNF vendor platforms.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams and work on the operational aspect of the various vendor provided Virtual Network Function Orchestration solutions.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership of your functional area; defining scope, delegating tasks, and completing development work to achieve team and business objectives.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience in a full-stack DevOps environment.
  • Four or more years of experience developing with Cloud platforms (ex: VCP, Azure, AWS).
  • Work experience of Linux/Unix scripting.
  • Knowledge of cloud-native application architectures.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Degree in Computer Science.
  • Telecom engineering experience.
  • Exceptional analytical/troubleshooting skills.
  • Written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience with deployment or use of configuration management or DevOps tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible, Jenkins, GIT, Artifactory, JIRA, SonarCube, Maven, Docker.
  • Experience with any or all of the following technologies or equivalent: Java/Spring boot, JavaScript, React.js, UNIX, Python, Micro services, SOAP/REST, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes.
  • Developer or Architect Certification with any of the cloud platforms.
