When you join Verizon

Verizon is one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, transforming the way we connect across the globe. We’re a diverse network of people driven by our shared ambition to shape a better future. Here, we have the ability to learn and grow at the speed of technology, and the space to create within every role. Together, we are moving the world forward – and you can too. Dream it. Build it. Do it here.

What you’ll be doing...

You will be part of the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) team, a growing group focused on the external reporting of Verizon’s environmental and social data. You will be responsible for managing components of the ESG data governance program. As a subject matter expert, you will work with external auditors and consultants as well as with internal data owners to develop processes and controls for reporting non-financial operating metrics, collaborate with data owners to validate nonfinancial data, and partner closely with Verizon enterprise risk management, internal audit and external reporting.

You have an eye for detail, a love of numbers and a passion for making a difference. No stranger to a fast-paced environment and tight deadlines, you can adapt to changing circumstances, juggle competing priorities, and combine a sense of urgency with due care and attention to detail. You get personal satisfaction from analyzing problems and delivering solutions to improve the business.

  • Ensure ESG data governance policies and procedures are followed and a strong internal controls environment is maintained across the company.
  • Facilitate the development of process and control documentation for non-financial operating metrics, as well as updates required for change management or to address identified gaps in controls.
  • Assist with training data owners on the ESG-specific program level standards for reporting data and their responsibility for owning information quality and adhering to program level standards and identified controls. This entails working with senior leaders, walking them through the documented program level standards and metric level processes and controls, identifying gaps and making recommendations for potential areas of improvement.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to facilitate the gathering of data, assessing data validity and synthesizing data into large datasets to support reported metrics.
  • Analyze and consolidate a wide variety of data across the enterprise into cohesive reporting; present data trends, insights and related recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop and/or collect required supporting documentation for reporting.
  • Manage a team of external auditors and consultants.
