What you’ll be doing...

The Network Security Intelligence and Analytics team is an advanced analytics group primarily responsible for developing threat detection strategies for Verizon global wireline and wireless networks. Working with a team of creative and innovative security professionals, the successful candidate will assist with advancing the use of new and existing technologies, including Machine and Deep learning, Splunk SIEM analytics, Python, and other tools. Moreover, you will provide threat hunting and analytic support to the Incident Response team when required. This role offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of analytical techniques where creativity and innovation meet technology. The primary accountabilities associated with the position include:

• Leadership of a work group and/or development of broad programs or projects in support of organizational or area strategies; communicates and translates functional/operational goals into team goals; manages implementation of policies and procedures.
• Acts independently or as a member of a highly-skilled technical team responsible for fulfilling complex business requirements with the implementation of reliable and efficient automated solutions; may be enterprise-wide initiatives.
• Responsible for all aspects of the development and implementation of more than one large project and provides a single point of contact for those projects - original concept thru final implementation.
• Receives broad guidance and is accountable for project or program results.
• Delegates work to lower-banded team members.
• Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity.
• Analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
• Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Six or more years of relevant work experience.
• Three or more years of experience working with security analytics, machine learning, and big data analysis.
• Willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics or other sciences.
• Demonstrated experience creating SIEM correlation logic, performing data analysis, and conducting security threat analytics on real-time and historical log data.
• Demonstrated experience securing large enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated understanding of Machine Learning and Deep Learning concepts.
• Demonstrated use of Machine Learning and/or Deep Learning techniques within a Big Data environment.
• Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the Splunk search language, search techniques, alerts, dashboards and report building.
• Extensive knowledge of network protocols and various operating systems such as Windows and Unix/Linux.
• Fundamental understanding or traditional enterprise networks and/or commercial wireless networks.
• Seven or more years of experience in the IT industry.
• Security certifications: CISSP, CISM or GIAC.
• Splunk certifications: Power User, Admin, Architect.
