What you’ll be doing...

As a Principal Engineer-Database you will be responsible for providing expert database management support, manage projects, research new technologies, evaluate product releases, help implement DEV/OPS and AI/OPS, and produce policy/standards/procedural documentation.

  • Support databases from installation through monitoring and problem resolution. All aspects of database administration and management are involved from development through upgrading and patching. Work closely with application development teams as well as production support teams.
  • Manage and operate databases on multiple platforms including cloud and on-premise data centers.
  • Manage projects both internal and external. Examples include security initiatives, software upgrades, EOSL remediation, compliance directives and others as required.
  • Research and evaluate technologies ranging from new database versions to new database technologies. Stay current on developments in technology and disseminate findings
  • Develop and implement DEV/OPS and AI/OPS methodologies and processes for the database team. Focus on leveraging current data captures/repositories with these efforts including warehousing and data mining.
  • Develop, maintain, and review best practices.
  • Support and drive the implementation and use of the disaster recovery training environments.
  • Support on-call rotation

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in Oracle/Oracle RAC/OCI, scripting and UNIXskills
  • Experience with other database technologies specifically Postgres, MySQL, SQL-SERVER, DB2LUW

Even better if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Ten plusyears of experience with Oracle/Oracle RAC/OCI
  • Experience with ZOS/DB2/IMS
  • Programming experience with Java, Python, COBOL
  • Experience with cloud technologies particularly AWS
  • Knowledge of third party tools (like TOAD, SQL Developer, SQL Optimizer)
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal/no supervision
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Able to get Top Secret Clearance
