What you’ll be doing...

In this role, you will help to advance the business by proactively executing a strategy that drives engagement, exposure, and thought leadership with employees and key external influencers, media, and bloggers. You’ll be responsible for promoting Verizon's business priorities with a focus on HR’s mission and its transformation and annual operating plan initiatives, demonstrating our leadership and explaining why it matters to our key stakeholders – employees, customers, shareholders, and society. You’ll be responsible for unearthing and telling stories about V Teamers at work and in their lives to enhance our culture. Your focus will be internal and external communications, with the flexibility to support key areas of our business as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and tell compelling stories about Verizon to help educate, engage and inspire employees, enhance our culture, and create a great employee experience.
  • Translate HR strategies, programs, and digital employee experience initiatives into engaging content that ties back to the business and larger Verizon strategy and initiatives and positively impacts employee productivity, organizational performance and business results.
  • Promote internally and externally Verizon as a great place to work through storytelling to support achievement of HR strategies to attract, develop and retain the best talent; reinforce our leadership position for diversity, equity and inclusion within and outside of Verizon; connect employees with and inform candidates about our leading benefits, health and wellness, and learning and development programs, and strengthen our purpose-driven culture by driving HR transformation initiatives like Work Forward, Talent GPS, VZPulse, Workday and more.
  • Deploy best practices in story creation to tell our HR story and highlight successes via our Up To Speed podcast and video series, Inside Verizon blog and app, and on our VZWeb and About You intranets – along with other vehicles as appropriate (e.g. webcasts, town halls, meetings in a box), and that can also be extended to Verizon’s social platforms (including LinkedIn, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
  • Collaborate with and provide counsel to HR and business leaders and their teams on communications strategy to engage employees as part of creating the best employee experience through a purpose-driven culture that aligns with our Credo and Core Values.
  • Develop, manage and execute communications plans that inform our employees and other stakeholders.
  • Interact and work collaboratively with cross-functional employee communications/PR/marketing groups, and HR field ops and center of excellence teams.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience in internal communications, PR agency, corporate communications or related field.
  • This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degreein English, Journalism, Communications, HR or other related field.
  • Experience in developing communications plans and tactics to achieve business objectives.
  • Ability to plan and execute complex projects both autonomously and collaboratively, manage deadlines and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Human Resources functional experience and knowledge of HR processes and systems.
  • Experience in change management, transformation, social media and global communications.
  • Understanding of web design and implementation and content management systems.
  • Project and program management and event management.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint/Google Slides, Adobe Photoshop, GSuite and Gmail, Poppulo.
  • Experience using video as a messaging platform, including ideation, scripting and storyboarding, production, and post-production advising.
