What you’ll be doing...

As an Advanced Comms Solutions Architect in Verizon Business Group (VBG), you will be responsible for acting as the technical presales expert, primarily focused on engaging with clients, contributing technical elements to Product Management, supporting Solution Architect team in complex solutions and driving sales opportunities to closure by providing technical design and validation.

You will be responsible for articulating and designing solutions for the latest technology and market trends and relating them to VoIP and Verizon Unified Communications and Collaboration product features. Your goal is to ensure that our internal and external clients are equipped with the latest reference design architectures, and are following best practices.

The ideal candidate is someone who’s been designing and/or implementing UC technology for a range of enterprise customers, and would like to further enhance their skills, tenure and experience while sharing their passion for technology with others.

Functional Responsibilities:

Serve as pre-sales engineering and technical expert in Verizon’s IP Telephony, Unified Communications and Collaborations solutions portfolio, including associated hardware, software, licensing, professional services, and network architecture.

  • Work with the Solution Architects and account teams as the lead IPT/UC subject matter expert to lead customer discussions, develop solutions and recommend Verizon products and services to meet customer’s business requirements.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of our customers' technical requirements and the business drivers behind them.
  • Creation and delivery of customer-facing materials, both formal and informal at various levels, including leading detailed technical discussions as well as delivering business-focused C-Level presentations.
  • Provide design validation for provisioning, management and Professional Services support
  • Share knowledge and experience to enhance the technical capabilities of peers and build prospective opportunities.
  • Author detailed Statements of Work documenting technical work to be executed by field operations. Act as liaison between client and field operations to ensure clear understanding of how solutions are designed to work. Possess solid understanding of the competitive landscape and ability to clearly articulate the technical differentiation and value proposition of Verizon solutions
  • Use tools to create BOMs, Estimates (CCW), SOWs, technical diagrams and other presentable materials for customers.
  • Contribute to technical proposals and RFP responses as required.
  • Travel as necessary to meet clients in person, estimated 10% of time.
  • Requires in-depth working knowledge of all aspects of IP Telephony and UC&C solutions:
    • Development of station- and/or trunk –side SIP designs including a detailed understanding of SIP Messaging and Call Flows
    • Designing and engineering technical solutions containing IP-PBX components
    • Session Border Control design
    • Responsible for determining customer requirements, and designing hosted UC solutions leveraging cloud based architectures, such as: Unified Communications as a Service (UCCaaS)
    • Development of Video (HD) and Telepresence design

    In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.

  • This position can be located anywhere in the US.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of architecture experience in conceptualization, definition and development of IT and or telecom-based products and service.
  • Two or more years in customer-facing positions (e.g., sales, sales engineering, consulting)
  • Experience doing network design with best practices convergence (QoS/CoS), routing (BGP, EIGRP) and switching (VLAN trunking, Ethernet) with focus on resiliency, availability, and latency.
  • Experience working with SBCaaS, IP Trunking, MS Teams integration, encompassing Cisco collaboration suite for meetings, messaging, and calling.
  • Current and valid industry certifications such as: Cisco Certified Design Associate/ Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCDA/CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional/ Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCNP/CCDP) ,Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP).
  • SBC certifications (e.g., SONUS/Ribbon).
  • Willingness to travel.
  • A valid Driver’s license.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.
  • Working knowledge of API’s related to UC&C applications.
  • Ability to work on five or more complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to review/consult on/approving three or more complex designs simultaneously.
  • Experience with the successful design, installation, and configurations currently deployed in customer environments.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to diagnose and utilize technical information and sales data effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
