What you’ll be doing...

The Global HR Services Specialist (LATAM/Canada) is a part of the HR Answers team and will be responsible for managing the full suite of HR transactions during the employee life-cycle for both Canada and all LATAM Verizon employees. HR Answers is a team that serves as the ‘front door to HR’ by quickly and accurately managing employee inquiries. This role will also utilize knowledge base and case management tools to assist in answering and resolving daily employee inquiries and will provide administrative and operational support such as employee personnel file management, benefits administration, leave of absence administration, verification of employment, records requests, etc. These tasks will also require data entry in accordance with Verizon policy and local legal/ regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include:

  • As part of the International New Employee Support Team (NEST), work with hiring managers, Talent Acquisition, IT, and Facilities partners to provide a seamless and efficient onboarding experience for all new hires in Canada and LATAM. Including acting as POC for new hires and hiring manager once Talent Acquisition has transitioned the new hire to the NEST team.
  • Daily monitoring of all offer requests, including generating employment contracts, distribution to candidates, and following up with candidates on the return of signed contracts and pre-boarding documents within required timelines.
  • Follow up on background investigation (BI) results with third party vendor and monitor results in line with Verizon policy and guidelines to meet agreed SLAs.Flag work permit requirement with HR Service Operations to ensure Verizon is compliant with local regulations.
  • Ensure that all documents have been completed accurately and submitted in accordance with required timelines. Engage daily with HR Shared Services and partner with Talent Acquisition partners where necessary to ensure maximum communication and clarity of potential issues with pre-boarding.
  • Drive a positive candidate experience for pre-boarding activities; liaison with managers and new hires to confirm start date, facilitate day one orientation for all newly hired and transferred employees, and ensure a successful handoff to the business.
  • Take the lead in managing and processing Benefit Administration, local Payroll set up, and all Leave of Absence requests. Ensuring Benefit enrolment is complete, compliant, and processed within guidelines.
  • Local Country and Region-specific content updates and revisions in the Verizon About You intranet platform.
  • Support the International Global Mobility team with other general process/procedure updates and general employee support.
  • Support vendor management including invoice processing.
  • Provide general HR guidance and support for employee inquiries within established SLAs and quality guidelines. This includes all LATAM and Canada employee-specific inquiries, incoming emails, calls, and inquiry management system tickets.
  • Maintain/improve controls and audit structure to ensure employee data and security.
  • Daily input and data management within a wide range of Verizon or other local HR Systems, including such items as Workday, Peoplesoft, and GSuite applications.
  • Contribute to and participate in ongoing employee experience and HR process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide backup support to other HR Answers teams as requested, to help manage fluctuations in workload.
  • Demonstrate the Verizon values in every action, every day.

Where you’ll be working…

In this remote role, you'll work from home with occasional in-person trainings and meetings. This role can be located anywhere within the continental US.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • A degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in human resources including onboarding, talent acquisition, payroll, benefits, etc.
  • Fluency in Portuguese.
  • A willingness to travel.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Four or more years of experience in a position requiring some form of project management-related tasks and/or process improvement within the Human Resources function.
  • Experience working within an international and dynamic environment involving multiple cultures, nationalities, and time zones.
  • Outstanding organizational skills with strong analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, G-Suite applications, Oracle PeopleSoft and Workday.
  • Strong communicator with superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and close.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Multitasking ability.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
