Keeping fans safe in the stands with Verizon and Zyter

As we begin to come back together to share experiences, safety remains a top priority. With its ThermalAlertTM solution, Zyter uses thermal imaging to non-intrusively detect elevated temperatures. And if the solution’s cameras and sensors are connected to Verizon 5G Edge, alerts can be sent and received almost instantaneously.

  • Collection

A single device contains both an optical and thermal camera, which scans access points as staff, fans and other visitors enter a venue. Instead of screening these individuals one-by-one—which can severely slow traffic—running the solution on 5G Edge makes it possible to send alerts and thermal images to the cloud in milliseconds.

“The Verizon 5G ecosystem combined with the Zyter platform and our thermal imaging solution allows us to take the near real-time steps when elevated temperatures are detected to help make sure that the fan experience is great.”

—Sanjay Govil
Zyter Inc. Chairman and CEO

  • Processing

Zyter’s artificially-intelligent algorithm server can accurately identify temperatures of individuals no matter what the surrounding ambient temperature is. And using the mobile edge computing (MEC) technology of 5G Edge, the data can be processed as soon as it is collected.

“Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband is built right for Zyter, with the performance and capabilities that we need.”

Technical Product Manager, Zyter Inc.

  • Notifications

If abnormal temperature readings are detected, notifications are sent to a pre‑subscribed set of approved users on a mobile app. And the ultra-low latency of 5G Ultra Wideband means those notifications could be delivered while the individual is still at the entrance, making it easy to quickly and respectfully inform them of their elevated temperature reading.
