Control the temperature of your home with a smart thermostat that saves energy and adapts to your schedule. The Nest Thermostat E’s watercolor-like display is pleasant to look at but subtle enough to blend into the background.

Energy-efficient.
Let your thermostat manage your house’s temperature while you’re away. It only takes a few days for the Nest Thermostat E to learn your schedule and adjust its settings accordingly. You can even program it to recognize your phone’s location and automatically turn the temperature down when you leave the house.

Subtle design.
With an attractive up-close design that seamlessly blends into its environment when you walk away, the Nest Thermostat E doesn’t call attention to itself or detract from your home’s décor.

Control on the go.
Manage your house’s temperature, regardless of whether you’re at work, on the beach or enjoying a movie on the couch. The Nest app gives you control of your thermostat from your phone, tablet or computer. You can even view your device’s history for a quick way to discover more opportunities to become energy efficient.

Great with other smart home products.
Stay relaxed and get hands-free access to your thermostat when you sync it to your Google Home. Stay alerted and get automatic surveillance footage whenever you’re away by combining your Thermostat E with the Nest Cam. And stay safe by pairing with Nest Protect, which communicates with your thermostat to shut off forced air systems and prevent smoke from spreading.

Works Perfectly in My Apartment!

Yes, I'd recommend this product.

It's been a couple of weeks now and this thing has been awesome! Definitely recommend, if only Verizon had the Best Thermostat Gen3 I would have gotten that instead! I will say if it isn't working when you get it, you may just need to plug it into a charger to get it going. Then you should be good to go!

Great thermostat

Just installed this thermostat with our new system a few weeks ago and it works great! Just make sure to check the compatibility before you buy it since it doesn’t work with every system. Love having access to the temp in the house via the app when I’m away as well.

Nest E is Great for 2nd System - Using 3rd Generation for Primary System

sarasota2k4 · 4 years ago

I purchased the Nest E Thermostat to control a smaller A/C and Heating system that is being used for the addition we put on our home back in 2003. I have a Nest 3rd Generation that I installed a few weeks ago for my main Heating & Cooling system which was not compatible with the Nest E. TIP: USE THE COMPATIBILITY CHECKER ON THE NEST WEBSITE TO ENSURE YOUR SYSTEM IS COMPATIBLE BEFORE PURCHASING. Many larger systems that use multi-stage fans, Emergency heat, or humidifiers/dehumidifiers may not be compatible with the Nest E. The 3rd Generation Nest is compatible with just about everything out there. Since the Nest E is about $70 cheaper than the 3rd Generation, I was pleased to see it was compatible with my system and I'm very satisfied with it's performance and capabilities. It does not have ALL the features of the 3rd Generation, but it performs well. For example, the Nest "E" DOES NOT enable you to view the HUMIDITY level inside your home. This feature is currently only available with the Nest 3G.

Frequently asked questions

GeographysaintDec 1, 2020

Will a Nest thermostat work with a Verizon Jetpack? I have a remote cabin with no available internet service that I would like to monitor. I wish this site a search engine to help filter as I am sure this question has already been asked.

Verizon Customer Support - 10 months

That's a good question. It's not recommended but it can work. The reason that it's not recommended is the usage. The Nest device requires a constant connection. Does this help to clarify that for you?

What are the differences between the nest E thermostat and the third generation nest thermostat?

Nest Support - 10 months

Nest Learning Thermostat is the fully-featured model of all Nest Thermostats. It has a 10-wire configuration which makes it compatible with up to 95% of the 24 V HVAC systems in the US. It supports up to 3-Stage Heating (W1, W2 & W3) and 2-Stage Cooling (Y1 & Y2), including support for humidifiers and dehumidifiers, and dual transformer HVAC systems. It also includes a high resolution display. Nest Thermostat E, on the other hand, comes with a 6-Wire configuration and is compatible with up to 85% of the 24-V HVAC systems in the US. It comes with a frosted display. You can see more details here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9230098

Nest - 3rd Generation - The latest Nest Learning Thermostat works with almost every type of HVAC system, has a display that's readable from across the room, and supports Farsight making the clock and text bigger so you can read it from across the room. It even comes in seven different colors for you to choose from. It's not cheap, though. Nest E - The Nest E is the least expensive model from the company and does almost everything the pricier model can. You'll be able to control it using your app or a smart assistant. It does lack Farsight, and the display is pretty basic, though. Additionally, it doesn't work with as many HVAC systems. - Takendra

With "smart thermostats", when I travel, was wondering what is the impact if my home wifi stops working ? does that A/C or Heating system and controls keep working off that last program/setting and will it automatically reconnect when wife comes back up?

VZBV - 3 years

I would definitely reach out to Nest directly to confirm what will happen if your wifi does disconnect. They can be reached at https://nest.com/thermostats/nest-thermostat-e/overview/ - Alicia
