Setting up a wired home network Wired home networks use Ethernet cable to connect the computers to the network. This makes wired networks less expensive, faster, and more secure than wireless home networks. All the computers on a wired home network can access the Internet through a single router or gateway, but the requirement for Ethernet connections limit the flexibility of a wired network.
