What is a Trojan horse? What can I do to remove Trojan Horses?

Since a Trojan horse is a type of virus, using antivirus software to scan your computer hard drive on a regular basis is the most obvious step in removing Trojan horses. One option is to use the antivirus software included in the Verizon Internet Security Suite.

Is there anything I can do to prevent getting Trojan horses?

You can also reduce the chances of getting a Trojan horse by being very selective about Web sites where you download files. Download files only from Web sites that carefully screen and test each program before making it available for downloading.
A Trojan horse is a program that appears to be something you want, but it is actually a virus, worm, or other malicious program. For example, the description of the file on the Internet may say it is an exciting new game or screen saver. During installation, however, the Trojan horse might delete every file on your hard drive or transmit your credit card numbers to a stranger.
