  • Dropped (Disconnected) Calls Maintain your equipment Follow the manufacturer's instructions to maintain your equipment. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the phone. Water or cleaning fluid may damage the phone. Do not remove the facing cover. This could void your warranty.

The problem might not be with something you consider part of your phone system. For example, static on the line can be caused by cordless telephones with weak batteries. Or, your burglar alarm could be the reason your phone is dead. The simple step of disconnecting the alarm for a few seconds is often all that is needed to restore the dial tone.
Check the phone jack If you think that your telephone jack is the problem and you know that your telephone is in good working condition, unplug the phone from the suspect jack. If the phone works properly in another jack, then the suspect jack or the inside wire is the problem.

Upkeep on inside wiring or jacks is the customer's responsibility. Verizon maintains the outside wiring.

If you have a problem with your inside wiring or jacks, you can choose to fix it yourself, hire a provider of your choice, or contact Verizon to request repair service. A service charge will apply for Verizon Repair assistance.

If you have Inside Wire Maintenance, costs for repairing your inside wiring will likely be covered by your plan.
If the problem continues, begin troubleshooting with your phone equipment Is the problem on all your telephone sets?
