What you’ll be doing...

Verizon is looking for a Manager to lead the newly established Program Management Office (PMO) on the Digital and Customer Experience (DCX) team for Verizon Business Group’s (VBG’s) Marketing organization. You will be a servant-leader with a strong customer orientation and an ability to create and implement a world-class program management office to support all digital projects. In this role, you will work closely with all levels of our organization, and amongst digital product owners (POs), functional subject matter experts (SMEs), and IT, in order to ensure we’re delivering the most valuable outcomes at the best time for our customers.

  • Managing a team of 4-6 team members who each drive their own portfolio of work. Responsible for on-boarding, coaching, support and evaluation of team members.
  • Leading cultural change by modeling transparency, integrity, experimentation, empowerment and focusing on driving value for our clients.
  • Developing a comprehensive digital project inventory and roadmap reflecting all planned projects across all digital experiences, and oversee the scoping, sizing of costs, benefits and budget of the projects.
  • Owning the Front Door Process to prioritize all incoming work requests based on strategic priority, cost-benefit and resource capacity information.
  • Defining, documenting and promoting project planning, execution and reporting standards.
  • Overseeing key strategic digital initiative launches end-to-end, including release planning with Go-to-Market (GTM) teams, release slotting with IT, and readiness assessments with cross-department PMOs.
  • Optimizing, automating, and governing the use of project and portfolio management tools such as JIRA and Clarity.
  • Capacity Management: Develop a capacity management model for all digital resources to ensure that all planned projects have the appropriate resourcing levels, and aligning capacity allocations with IT and other project resources. Working closely with IT leadership to identify resource constraints proactively, and ensure that critical projects are fully supported throughout their life cycles.
  • Defining and implementing DCX portfolio level reporting to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Developing and implementing measurable criteria to validate process improvements and evaluate post-implementation success.
  • Ensuring the fluid management of integration efforts, working in a matrix environment with high levels of ambiguity by creating and fostering strong relationships with both business and technical partners.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in portfolio management methodology and techniques.
  • Two or more years of experience leading people.
  • Experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree.
  • Experience setting up and running a new PMO.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence organizational direction and departmental initiatives working up, down and across the organization. Experience in collaborating with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Experience in IT or digital marketing, ideally in an enterprise environment.
  • Effective interpersonal and team building capabilities. Excellent presentation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to challenge the status quo, in the appropriate settings and providing compelling evidence.
  • Experience using customer centric methods & approaches to design products and/or services.
  • Strategy and operations experience at a leading management consulting firm.
  • Dedication and determination to see things through from start to finish, with a commitment to excellence.
  • Experience formulating and implementing strategies within well-defined time frames w/ multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience using agile tools and methodologies. Intermediate to advanced skill level using project management tools, office productivity, and data analytics tools. Advanced Proficiency in Google Suite and/or MS PowerPoint and Excel.
