What you’ll be doing...

Verizon Cloud Engineering & Enablement team is looking for a DevOps Support Engineer. He/She will be playing a key role in strong understanding of the DevOps platform Tools on Cloud along with enabling self-service and innovative solutions. Expertise in Cloud, Devops Tools, SRE and Engineering Support with excellent communication skills.

  • Ensuring uptime of the platform for end-users as well as development teams.
  • Building immutable infrastructure in public cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc).
  • Building intrinsic connect with user community, working on support tickets and understand the business needs.
  • Enhancing, Expand and Augment the devops tool umbrella to stay on top of latest trends.
  • Participating in devops tool analysis, creates proof of concept models, and makes recommendations to support the tools selection process.
  • Generating actionable metrics to measure the performance of the infrastructure tools, frameworks and other systems that support the entire engineering and release.
  • Engaging with vendors on a regular basis to understand product upgrades and new features.
  • Identifying Proactive server performance improvements, devise upgrade plans, and execute those plans in a timely manner.
  • Connecting with external devops user community through meetups and forums to understand the best practices and share common solutions that have paved way for user experience.
  • Monitoring Application availability and end-user communication and take appropriate action within SLA.
  • Ensuring tool compliance to Verizon security protocols. Strong and effective interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of staff and subordinates.

What we’re looking for...

We are looking for a DevOps Support Engineer with knowledge in Cloud, Devops Tools, SRE with support background and excellent communication skills.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.
  • One or more years of relevant work experience in supporting DevOps tools, Cloud, SRE.
  • Experience with the Linux operating system (kernel vs. user space, scheduling, loganalysis, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience in supporting Devops tools like Jenkins, Gitlab, JIRA, Confluence, Sonar etc
  • Analyzing test results on application functionality, database impacts, errors or bugs, usability, users stories and/use cases/requirements for validity and feasibility.
  • Preparing reports on all aspects related to the load test, functional test, performance metrics, etc.
  • Experience in Monitoring/Alerting tools and platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, Pingdom, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.

Even better if you have:

  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience in supporting DevOps tools, Cloud, SRE.
  • In-Depth knowledge of Testing tools like qTest, Tosca, Jmeter, Selenium, etc
  • Knowledge of SQL, PostGres and NoSQL databases.
  • Basic knowledge in CI/CD and workflow automation.
  • Self-starter that enjoys learning new tools, technologies, and most of all, solving problems.
  • Logging infrastructure such as fluentd, logstash, elasticsearch, kibana, or spunk.
  • Basic Scripting knowledge - Bash Scripting, Python.
  • Basic Development knowledge.
  • Good logical and analytical skills.
