What you’ll be doing...

As the Product Manager of Public Sector Enablement for the Verizon Business Group’s (VBG) Product organization, you will be responsible for maximizing the effectiveness of the product portfolio in the Public Sector and helping to achieve revenue and profitability targets.

To succeed in this role, one must have knowledge of the VBG’s product portfolio as well as the needs and trends specific to Public Sector customers ranging from State, Local, and Education (SLED) to Federal agencies. It will be especially important to have this knowledge during a time of disruption and transformation in order to understand the fundamental changes taking place across the Public Sector. The Product Manager must also have the skills to arm, train, support, and drive our segment-specific sales channels and help them succeed in delivering revenue objectives.

This role includes a combination of Technical, Product Management and Go-To-Market (GTM) activities which are critical for serving as a Product liaison for sales programs, business transformation initiatives, and Learning & Development (L&D). This includes the management of multiple, highly complex, and high-profile commercial programs supporting VBG’s product portfolio as well as Compliance as a Competency program which focuses on building a world class compliance practice necessary to win and maintain Public Sector business.

This role will require horizontal collaboration across peer and matrix organizations. The Product Manager will work closely with Product Management, Sales, Sales Operations, Product Marketing, Field Marketing, and the VBG Commercial Operations teams to deliver on product revenue and profitability targets.

Key to the team’s strategy is the ability to prioritize, track, and execute on specific opportunities for Public Sector. These opportunities include delivering channel support, supporting RFP responses, ensuring sales effectiveness, program management of critical initiatives, input on product development roadmap, field and sales communications, optimizing sales targets, and commissioning.

  • Definingand driving the strategic direction and competitive positioning of the wireline products across multiple Public Sector channels and customers.
  • Drivingpost-launch activities to ensure revenue forecasts are achieved.
  • Tracking and analyzingkey performance metrics on a monthly basis and forecast product revenues.
  • Ensuring sales channels are armed, trained, and incentivized correctly; track KPIs and be a “force multiplier” for the sales channel.
  • Growing revenue and profitability to positively impact shareholder value.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience; Master’s degreedesired.
  • Five or more years of product management, marketing, and/or sales experience delivering to Public Sector clients.
  • Experience in launching and deploying products and solutions.
  • Experience with government procurement and pricing programs, such as EIS and E-rate.
  • Experience developing and deploying compliance practices around relevant standards and requirements, such as GSAM (CPM 306)/Global Clearance, and Data Privacy & Security (e.g., HIPAA/CJIS/FISMA/FEDRAMP/COPAA/PCI/CPNI/CALEA).
  • Ability to develop product strategies that drive sales for wireline solutions.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in a matrix-management model.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and flex with changing business needs.
  • Ability to conduct meetings, think critically, and drive timelines.
  • Effective oral and written communication and report presentation skills to up level executives.
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Proven track record working with and influencing cross-functional and business operational teams, and ability to quickly and actively establish an internal network of relationships.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically.
