What you’ll be doing...

VNOE (Virtual Network Operations/Engineering) Location Services team manages a wide variety of responsibilities pertaining to Location Services (cNLS, eNLS and WDS) with the goal of providing the highest level of operational and engineering efficiency for our customers. Our Location Services provide emergency location services (911 and VoWiFi) and commercial location services for a variety of applications that reside on the Verizon network and/or VoWiFi.You will be responsible for ensuring the operational and engineering efficiency of these applications on our network. You will also be creating and disseminating reporting on all specific areas such as change management, capacity management and RCA’s. In a growing world, a cloud based environment, Internet of Things (IoT) and new forms of location services will require you to think outside the box. You will be directly responsible for assisting in the operation, design and engineering services for these Location Based service (cNLS, eNLS and WDS).

  • Tier 3/4 troubleshooting of issues that utilizes our platforms for location services. This includes the complete end to end flow of services communicating across the network to/from the Location Services platforms.
  • Locating, testing, and onboarding tools across the platform to triage issues, monitor KPIs, and report capacity metrics to assist in the growth and support of the platforms.
  • Collaborating with vendors and internal teams to create a smooth operational process for each service, with an understanding of the virtual environments they may reside in.
  • Prioritizing and managing requests made by external or internal organizations (Marketing, PDI, IT, MTCE, and HQ Planning) to enhance commercial service offerings, increase capacity, and improve redundancy, from inception to completion while minimizing impact to our customers.
  • Creating timely and accurate written, verbal, and visual reporting (scheduled and ad-hoc) to highlight critical issues and enable efficient strategic management decision-making.
  • Tracking and working all escalated issues that will utilize our Location Services platforms we operate.
  • Producing maintenance window/change control tracking and reporting on a monthly basis.
  • Generating application/transport capacity reporting.
  • Developing/maintaining capacity/demand models.
  • Collecting and analyzing performance/usage data and utilizing it to identify any trends.
  • Coordinating growth/expansion engineering and implementation activities.
  • Evaluating Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation from our Vendors to ensure it meets or exceeds operational/engineering efficiencies for such changes.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience
  • Red Hat System Administrator, OpenStack, or VMWare certifications.

Even better if you have one or more or the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, computer science, information technology, or another related field
  • A+, MCSE, CCNA, or related certifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to utilize and understand the internal tools to assist (MTAS, MARS, IRISVIEW, Packet Captures)
  • Coursework and/or practical experience with computer science, networking, telecommunications, programming and scripting.
  • Experience with a cloud based environment from either an engineering, implementation or operations perspective.
  • Five or more years of experience in wireless telecommunications and data networking.
  • Three or more years of experience with fundamental packet data concepts ex. TCP/IP and UDP, routing, basic LAN/WAN network connectivity, firewall, DNS.
  • Two or more years of experience in remote technical support.
  • Two or more years of experience in project management, account management, relationship management.
  • One or more years of experience in a cloud based environment and programming/scripting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Elexibility and proven ability to multitask and work independently.
