Digital Secure Home and Digital Secure Home Plus Terms of Service
Parental Controls, Digital Secure Home and Digital Secure Home Plus (collectively, “Digital Secure” or “Service”) provides digital protection for your home network and connected devices, which, depending on your service, includes parental controls and router security.
Supported Router; App Enabled. This Service is an available feature for a limited selection of routers. You must download and use the Verizon Home App to activate and manage the Service and its features. Once you enable and configure the Service, you can manage the Digital Secure settings for your home network.
System Elements. The Service will not work or be accessible without: (i) an active and current Fios Home Internet account with Verizon; (ii) always-on Fios broadband Internet access at your home with bandwidth sufficient to support the Service; (iii) a broadband router compatible with the Service; (iv) for some Service settings and features, a Fios-enabled wifi network at your home that communicates reliably with your connected devices and all of the other equipment required for the Service; and (v) obtaining, installing, configuring, and maintaining suitable equipment and devices, internet service, and software, including any necessary system or software upgrades, patches, or other fixes, that are or may become necessary for the Service or to access or download any app necessary for the Service (the “System Elements”). The Service will be interrupted or limited when any of the System Elements are impaired, unavailable, suspended, or not working.
Internet Control Software. The Service offers an Internet control that has software installed on your broadband router that intercepts Internet-bound traffic to monitor traffic and allow you to limit access to certain content. The software on your broadband router connects to a server network infrastructure and then sends your Internet traffic and content to our licensor’s servers for categorization.
Block Unsafe Applications. The Service may block unsafe applications that attempt to access protected resources on your devices. This may result in applications not starting or not behaving properly. Granting access to these may result in data loss or data theft.
Internet Access; Other Security Products. A device enabled to access the Internet is required to utilize the Service. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your devices are sufficient and compatible for use with the Service. During the installation process, the Service may uninstall or disable other security products if such products or features are incompatible with the Service.
Third Party Features. The Service may include third-party features and functions, including access through a third-party’s application programming interface or may allow you to access content on a third-party website. Such features, functions, or content may be subject to third-party terms of service and privacy policies. You acknowledge sole responsibility and assume all risk arising from your use of any third-party resources accessed through the Service.
Consents and Notices. The Service may collect information about devices connected to your home network to determine if these devices are behaving maliciously (for example, communicating with unsafe applications that attempt to access a device’s protected resources, infect a computer with a virus, or host phishing websites) . It is your responsibility, not the responsibility of Verizon, to notify any users you permit to access the internet from your home network that information (for example, IP addresses) related to suspicious activity that occurs on their devices that may harm or threaten your home network may be shared with you on your Verizon Home app profile.
Third-Party Beneficiary. One of our licensors for the Service, Bitdefender, shall be a third-party beneficiary of these terms of service for the limited purpose of enforcing and protecting its intellectual-property rights. Upon your acceptance of these terms of service and your use of Parental Controls, Digital Secure Home or Digital Secure Home Plus, Bitdefender will have the right to enforce its intellectual-rights directly against you.
Billing for Digital Secure Home Plus. Billing for your monthly, recurring fees for Digital Secure Home Plus will begin automatically on the date you complete your order to add the Service to your Fios account. Billing will continue until your Digital Secure Home Plus service is canceled or terminated in accordance with these terms of service or the terms and conditions applicable to your Fios Home Internet Service (https://www.verizon.com/about/terms-conditions/residential-terms-service.) You will need to re-order Digital Secure Home Plus for your Fios account if you want to sign up for it after you remove your Digital Secure Home Plus service from your Fios account or if your Digital Secure Home Plus service is canceled or terminated.
Open Source Software. The Service may contain certain software subject to open source licenses. All such software is subject to the terms of the applicable licenses, which you can view at https://www.verizon.com/support/residential/internet/equipment/open-source-software/.
