Converged Ethernet Access

(formerly Multi-Service Ethernet Access Service)

 

I.          SERVICE DESCRIPTION:  Converged Ethernet Access is provided by MCI Legacy Company.  Converged Ethernet Access provides dedicated high bandwidth access to one or more MCI Legacy Company Network Services via a single connection using Ethernet topology, per Customer designated location, where the circuit itself is provided by MCI Legacy Company and where facilities are available.  Availability of services, speeds, and features may vary based on Customer’s billing platform.  Converged Ethernet Access must be combined with a minimum of one MCI Legacy Company Network Service.  MCI Legacy Company Network Services include, but are not limited to Ethernet Virtual Private Line – Metro, Ethernet Virtual Private Line – National, Ethernet Virtual Private Line – International, Company-provided Virtual Private LAN Service, Internet Dedicated Service, and Private IP Service, Private IP Layer 2 Service and Company-provided vBNS+.  Converged Ethernet Access provides monitoring for Converged Ethernet Access outages for all bandwidth speeds and Customer support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Converged Ethernet Access is required for MCI Legacy Company Network Services ordered on or after July 1, 2005.

 

1.         Network Configuration:  Converged Ethernet Access types are available in the following configurations:

 

Type 1 Service:  The Ethernet connection at the Customer designated location is furnished via MCI Legacy Company facilities, and the Ethernet connection at the MCI Legacy Company IXC Point of Presence location is furnished via MCI Legacy Company Facilities.  Ethernet connections furnished by MCI Legacy Company Facilities use Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) services as the facility class.

 

Type 2 Service:  The Ethernet connection at the Customer designated location is furnished via non-MCI Legacy Company facilities, and the Ethernet connection at the MCI Legacy Company IXC Point of Presence location is furnished via MCI Legacy Company Facilities.  Non-MCI Legacy Company facilities use an Ethernet facility class and MCI Legacy Company facilities use a TDM facility class.

 

Type 3 Service: The Ethernet connection at the Customer designated location is furnished via non-MCI Legacy Company facilities, and the Ethernet connection at the MCI Legacy Company IXC Point of Presence location may or may not be furnished via MCI Legacy Company facilities.  Facilities furnished by both MCI Legacy Company and non-MCI Legacy Company use Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) services as the facility method.

 

Type 4 Service:  The Ethernet connection at the Customer designated location is furnished via non-MCI Legacy Company facilities, and the Ethernet connection at the MCI Legacy Company IXC Point of Presence location is furnished via MCI Legacy Company Facilities.  Facilities furnished by both MCI Legacy Company and non-MCI Legacy Company use an Ethernet facility class.

 

1.1       General Availability:  Converged Ethernet Access in Type 1, Type 2, Type 3 and Type 4 network configurations are available as described in the following tables.

1.3       LATA Availability:  The following table indicates the availability of Converged Ethernet Access by Type and by LATA (Local Access Transport Areas).  Not all Converged Ethernet Access types, features, speeds and bands are available for certain locations within a LATA.  Service is provided to Customer-designated locations where facilities are available.

 

Type 2 Service is available to Customers whose wire center is within 20 airline miles of a Type 2 Service Switch (see Mileage Calculation) and whose location is within the maximum allowable range from a Type 2 Service Switch as measured by the dB loss rate, where the maximum dB loss cannot exceed 26dB @1310nm for the 100 Mbps interface, 9.5dB @1330nm for the 1000 Mbps interface, or 22dB @1550nm for the 1000 Mbps interface.

Converged Ethernet Access will be provided by Type 3 network configurations for U.S. Mainland locations not included on the preceding LATA list and where the Ethernet connections are provided via non-MCI Legacy Company facilities.

 

2.         Geographic Service Configurations:  Converged Ethernet Access may be provided as InterLATA Service, known as Corridor Service, between: LATA 132 and LATAs 222 and 224; LATA 222 and LATA 224; and as IntraLATA InterSTATE service within LATA 236 and LATA 228, and for locations in LATA 246 for which the local loop is furnished in whole via MCI Legacy Company-owned facilities.  All other Converged Ethernet Access is intraLATA.

 

II.          DEFINITIONS:  General Definitions apply.

 

III.         FEATURES AND OPTIONS:

 

1.         The Converged Ethernet Access Term Plan is available.

 

2.         Link Aggregation:  Link Aggregation is only available for orders placed by Customer prior to August 1, 2009.  Link Aggregation provides Customer with an additional Ethernet interface port connection at Customer’s designated premises.  The Ethernet interface is provided on a secondary interface port card and is limited to one (1) additional interface port.  Link Aggregation does not provide protection beyond Customer’s designated premises. 

 

Monthly Recurring Rate per Interface Port                 $350

 

Link Aggregation is only available on FET Interfaces. It is available for Type 1 at the Mbps specified in Section I.1.1 above.  Link Aggregation is not available for Type 2 or Type 4 and is only available for Type 3 bandwidths greater than 40 Mbps.  Link Aggregation may not be combined with the Converged Ethernet Access Diversity feature.

 

3.         Converged Ethernet Access Diversity: Converged Ethernet Access Diversity (CEA Diversity) provides Customer with redundancy of varying levels.  Customer must have two Converged Ethernet Access circuits originating in the same location and the Converged Ethernet Diversity feature must be installed concurrent with the second Converged Ethernet Access circuit.  Transmission and path diversity are not included as a part of the CEA Diversity feature.  Path diversity is not provided as a part of the Customer’s first or second Converged Ethernet Access circuit.

 

3.1       CEA Diversity Feature Levels

 

3.1.1    UNI Card Diversity: User Network Interface (UNI) Card Diversity provides Customer with an additional Ethernet interface port connection at the Customer’s designated premise, provided on the secondary interface port card in the same Ethernet device as the primary Converged Ethernet Access circuit.  The Customer’s second Converged Ethernet Access circuit utilizes this second interface port to connect to the same Layer 2 switch, and same CPA Node, as the Customer’s primary Converged Ethernet Access circuit.

 

3.1.2    UNI Device Diversity: UNI Device Diversity provides Customer with an additional Ethernet interface port connection at the Customer’s designated premise, provided on a separate Ethernet device. The Customer’s second Converged Ethernet Access circuit utilizes this second Ethernet device to connect to the same Layer 2 switch, and same CPA Node, as the Customer’s primary Converged Ethernet Access circuit.

 

3.1.3    Layer 2 Switch Geographic Diversity: Layer 2 Switch Geographic Diversity provides Customer with an additional Ethernet interface port connection at the Customer’s designated premise, provided on a separate Ethernet device with a termination at a separate Layer 2 switch. The Customer’s second Converged Ethernet Access circuit utilizes the second Ethernet device to connect to a separate Layer 2 switch, in the same CPA market area, as the Customer’s primary Converged Ethernet Access circuit.

 

Layer 2 Switch Geographic Diversity is limited to the following 15 markets (LATA): Atlanta (438), Baltimore (238), Chicago (358), Cleveland (320), Dallas (552), Denver (656), Houston (560), Los Angeles (730), New York City (132), New Jersey (224), New York/New Jerseycorridor (132/224), Phoenix (666), San Francisco (722), Tampa (952) and Washington DC (236). 

 

Switches utilized for Layer 2 Switch Geographic Diversity are predefined by Company engineering and are not available for discrete selection by the Customer.

 

3.2       General Availability: For Converged Ethernet Access circuits ordered after July 1, 2009, the Converged Ethernet Access diversity is only available for Type 1 and Type 3 on FET and GBE Interfaces.  UNI Card Diversity is available for bandwidths between 50 Mbps and 500 Mbps, at the bandwidth availability specified in Section I.1.1 above.  UNI Device Diversity and Layer 2 Switch Geographic Diversity are available for bandwidths greater than 45 Mbps, at the bandwidth availability specified in Section I.1.1 above. 

 

Other Availability Conditions:

 

·         A maximum of two circuits, from the same location, can be diverse from each other.

·         Link Aggregation may not be combined with CEA Diversity.

·         Change, move and supplemental orders can not be used to increase/decrease bandwidth or to order the diversity feature.

 

3.3       Converged Ethernet Access Diversity Monthly Recurring and Non-Recurring Charges:  The following monthly recurring and non-recurring charges apply based on type of interface, bandwidth and feature level.  1 – 10

 

3.3.1    Standard Interfaces:  Charges apply to both the Customer’s primary and secondary Converged Ethernet Access circuits.

4.         UNI Port Protection:  UNI Port Protection is available for orders placed by Customer on or after August 1, 2009.  UNI Port Protection provides Customer with an additional Ethernet interface port connection at Customer’s designated premises.  The Ethernet interface is provided on a secondary interface port card using link aggregation and is limited to one (1) additional interface port.  UNI Port Protection does not provide protection beyond Customer’s designated premises.

UNI Port Protection is only available on FET and GBE Interfaces. It is available for Type 1 and Type 3 at the Mbps specified in Section I.1.1 above for those that are 50Mbps or greater.  UNI Port Protection is not available for Type 2 or Type 4.

 

IV.        RATES AND CHARGES:  Price quotes for Converged Ethernet Access are valid for a period of 45 calendar days from the date the quote is provided to Customer.  Orders placed after 45 days or if no quote is provided will be priced at the rate in effect at the time of the order.

5.2       Bandwidth Reconfiguration Charge:  Bandwidth reconfiguration provides Customer the ability to reconfigure bandwidth using Customer’s existing interface and physical access facility on Type 1, Type 2 and Type 3 network configurations.  The following charge is in addition to the Administrative Change charge and applies per bandwidth reconfiguration.
