FAQs
What is a passkey?
A passkey is a simple, highly secure method that lets you log in to your My Verizon for Business account using the same quick method you use to unlock your phone or computer—such as your face, fingerprint, device PIN, or pattern.
Why should I use a passkey?
Passkeys offer the easiest and strongest protection against security threats for three main reasons:
Faster Sign-in: You don’t have to remember or type complex characters. It’s as fast as unlocking your registered device.
Phishing-resistant: Passkeys are cryptographically tied to the official My Verizon for Business website address. They will not work on a malicious site, making them more difficult to steal than passwords.
Leak-resistant: Unlike passwords, a passkey is never stored on Verizon’s servers and cannot be exposed in the event of a website data breach.
What do I need to use a passkey?
Passkeys work on all modern devices with facial recognition, fingerprint, PIN or pattern.
Apple Devices: iOS 16+, macOS 13 (Ventura)+, or iPadOS 16+.
Android Devices: Android 9+ devices.
Windows PCs: Windows 10/11 with Windows Hello enabled
You must also be using the latest version of a modern browser (Chrome OS 109+, Safari 16+, Firefox 122+, or Microsoft Edge 109+).
What happens if my device is lost or stolen?
Your account remains protected and recoverable. This is a core benefit of modern passkeys. You can still access your account with your password and two-factor authentication (push, SMS, and email).
Cloud recovery is availableon most cloud services (e.g., iCloud, Google Cloud, etc). Your passkeys will automatically be available on your new device as soon as you sign in to that cloud service. This is not available for device-bound passkeys (e.g., YubiKey).
If your passkey does not sync to your new device, log in using your password and two-factor authentication. Once in the portal, remove your old passkey and add your new passkey.
For seamless access, we highly recommend setting up multiple devices with a passkey for your account so you'll have a backup ready just in case you need it.
Note: Patterns and PINs can be guessed and are not recommended. Especially if using something predictable, e.g., a “7” pattern, “password” or “1234”, etc.
