Objectives

Students will collaboratively explore immersive environments, find a primary source artifact, analyze its significance, relate it to the historical context, and discuss its relevance to the singer's life and challenges.
Students will engage with passages related to the life and experiences of Florence Mills or Tiny Davis and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the historical context and challenges faced by the chosen figure.
Collectively answer questions that require synthesis of the information gathered from the environment, passages, and primary source document, promoting a deeper understanding of the historical narrative.

This multiplayer learning experience introduces students to singers of color from history, each who rose above societal challenges to make their voice heard. Students will explore the past, talk with people from those eras, share the facts they’ve learned, and preserve history.
