The Commonwealth of Virginia’s executive branch delivers services to its citizens through 61 agencies staffed by 56,000+ employees. The commonwealth made the decision to move from one long-term information technology infrastructure supplier to a multisupplier environment with oversight and governance provided by the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA). Verizon had an existing contract in place to provide the primary telecommunications network service. That contract was modified for Verizon to supply voice and data networking, including network, customer premise equipment, and advanced communications and collaboration services in the new environment.. |
