  • Last month, we announced the general availability of 5G Edge in our first two cities: the Boston (us-east-1-wl1-bos-wlz-1) and Bay Area (us-west-2-wl1-sfo-wlz-1) metro areas. Today, we are excited to introduce three new cities into the mix: Atlanta (us-east-1-wl1-atl-wlz-1), New York (us-east-1-wl1-nyc-wlz-1) and Washington, DC (us-east-1-wl1-was-wlz-1)!

  • In case you haven't had a chance to attend one of the AWS Wavelength Immersion Days to get hands-on experience with edge computing, here’s a breakdown of some of the top questions we’re getting from developers who have attended.

Can I use other devices besides my mobile phone to connect to 5G Edge? +
  • Absolutely. Earlier last month, we announced the launch of the ThingSpace IoT Marketplace, where you can purchase pre-certified VZ modules to connect over our LTE and 5G Ultra Wideband network to your 5G Edge infrastructure.
     

How can I get started? +
Does 5G Edge only support 5G-connected devices? +
  • No, in addition to your 5G Ultra Wideband network devices you can also use your 4G LTE-connected device to take advantage of the proximity afforded by 5G Edge Wavelength Zones.
