  • Overview

  • Verizon 5G Business Internet is a new high-speed, fixed wireless internet service paving the way for a new era of business innovations with ultra-fast speeds and ultra-low lag time, which can help your business compete like never before. 5G Ultra Wideband provides many times the bandwidth of today’s 4G Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network, allowing your business to develop analytics and leverage the power of your data in ways never before possible.

    Massive capacity

5G network can carry a massive amount of data for a large number of simultaneous users. Which means Verizon 5G Business Internet can handle the data needs of many business users and devices, at once.

    Ultra-low latency

5G’s end-to-end latency (the time it takes for data to travel from the user over the network to the central processor and back again) is in the milliseconds—and we expect it to eventually be under 10 milliseconds. That’s a 25x improvement over 4G and 10x improvement over some other 5G networks! This ultra-low latency will drive true business change, enabling critical processing power for business scenarios that require instant data analysis and decision making.

    Groundbreaking speed

Welcome to internet speeds that are ultrafast. With Verizon 5G Business Internet, you can expect download speeds up to 400 Mbps. (Exact amounts will vary based on speed tier chosen.) And with the long-term potential to offer peak data rates of up to 10 Gbps, Verizon 5G Business Internet will have the potential to be many times faster than 4G LTE.

For the 5G Business Internet service you should consider the following guidelines to ensure proper usage to meet your business needs.

    Uplink/Downlink Bandwidth when using 5G

    • 5G Business Internet speed tier (e.g. 300 Mbps) is an ‘up to’ bandwidth service. The maximum bandwidth to be allowed will be the Speed Tier service level selected for your service. There is no minimum bandwidth level, we suggest consulting with your Account Manager about your specific use cases.

  • Uplink/Downlink Bandwidth when using 4G LTE fallback

    • When 5G access is not available, 5G Business Internet will provide access to 4G LTE network to continue support of data traffic. When in 4G mode, the following guidelines are suggested:
      • downlink bandwidth: 5 Mbps  to 12 Mbps
      • uplink bandwidth: 2 Mbps  to 5 Mbps

The 4G LTE fallback will revert to 5G when it becomes available.

Latency: We suggest consulting your Account Manager for the latest information on end to end latency.

Applications using IPSec VPN: For configurations with Asymmetric routing, consult with your Account Manager to provide high performance.

  • Business continuity plan

  • Service disruptions can hurt a company's bottom line and compromise an organization's mission. The economic and reputational imperatives of the current market have shifted the discussion from IT disaster recovery to an enterprise-wide business continuity focus.

Organizations of all sizes and industry types should have ongoing, enterprise-wide Business Continuity Programs that develop, prepare and exercise the various areas of continuity from critical business processes to IT service availability. The Business Continuity Program should address areas such as Emergency Response, Impact Analysis, Business Continuity Plans, Disaster Recovery Plans, Supplier Plans, Exercises, and ongoing BC program management.

The goals of today’s most relevant Business Continuity Programs are those providing organizations with an enterprise-wide business continuity focus, that not only includes strategizing and planning for IT service availability and disaster recovery, but addresses the ability to manage all areas of critical and continuity activities of the program to help prepare and mitigate the impact from ever-increasing risks threatening to interrupt organizations’ critical processes.

Key criteria your organization should consider when creating a relevant, enterprise-wide Business Continuity Program to help protect your business critical information and processes

    • The Executive Team has established enterprise-wide business continuity objectives
    • The BC Program is
      • Enterprise-wide, and extends beyond the IT department
      • Part of the organization’s annual operational budget
      • An on-going, steady-state operation of the business
    • Regular assessments and reviews to validate business recovery requirements, priorities capabilities and compliance requirements
    • IT Service strategies and recovery solutions to maintain effective service resiliency and availability align to the business requirements
    • Appropriate emergency response, business continuity, communications and disaster recovery plans are designed and developed to provide proper guidance during an event
    • Regular BC Program maintenance is being performed to manage the program changes
      • Determine if you can/will manage the BC Program internally, or using a BC partner
      • If a BC partner, determine those with the best capabilities to manage your organization’s size and needs
      • Confirm the group or persons managing your BC Program is qualified, they have references, ISO accreditations and BC certifications
    • Annual exercises and tests are performed before an event happens, validating your plans effectiveness
    • Develop clear and simple methods, policies and procedures to follow
    • Keep all resources properly trained
    • Once the event is over, you should have a plan in place to bring your business back to normal operations

Verizon can help you with your Business Continuity planning needs

What internet speeds should I expect with 5G Business Internet? +

5G Business Internet Speed Tiers include the following:

  • 300 Mbps Download
Is 5G Business Internet available to businesses who are tenants of a multi-tenant building or rent a building? +

Yes, however this depends on the specific location within the building where 5G Business Internet will be installed. Since installation may require mounting of equipment and running cabling within the building structure, Verizon must have permission to make any changes to the building structure, as required (e.g., drilling holes for mounting, running conduit for cabling, etc.). Customer is responsible for providing Verizon with such permission from the building owner

What equipment will be installed for 5G Business Internet? +

Two pieces of equipment will be installed:

  1. Outdoor 5G receiver
  2. Router (provided via Verizon or supported router).
What do I need to do to prepare before the date of installation? +

Use the following checklist to review steps prior to installation. Your Account Manager will review this list with you.

  • Point of contact: Your onsite point of contact should have access to enter the site facilities and roof. The onsite contact must be authorized to sign off on service acceptance upon successful installation.
  • Tell your account manager if there are any aesthetic concerns with the placement of the equipment
  • Low-E Windows: Tell your account manager if your building has Low-E glass windows.  If so, what level of Low-E glass?

Note: Low-E glass may require outside installation.

Low-E, or low-emissivity, glass minimizes the amount of infrared and ultraviolet light that comes through glass, without minimizing the amount of light that enters a building. Low-E glass windows have a microscopically thin coating that is transparent and reflects heat.

  • Building Structure Ownership: Since installation may require mounting of equipment and running cabling within the building structure, the Verizon technician must have permission to make any changes to the building structure, as required (e.g., drilling holes for mounting, running conduit for cabling, etc.)
    • For building owners: Verizon will need written permission to make any physical changes required for installation of the 5G business Internet service. If permission is not granted then 5G Business Internet service cannot be installed.
    • For building tenants: Verizon will need written permission from the building owner to allow installation of equipment onto building structure. If you are unable to obtain permission then 5G Business Internet service cannot be installed. If the equipment must be installed on the building’s roof, do you have roof access?
What will happen during the 5G Business Internet installation? +

On the day of installation, the technician will mount the 5G receiver, install Ethernet cable, power up and install the router.

Verizon Steps

  • Determine 5G connectivity / advise on 5G receiver location (inside or outside the building)

  • Sign off to accept the service: Upon successful installation of service, the onsite contact must have authority to accept the service provisioning which will start activation of the service.
How is my Local Area Network (LAN) connected during installation? +
  • The installation technician will connect your existing Local Area Network (LAN) Ethernet connected devices to the business router’s LAN port(s), including the Ethernet switch, if applicable.

Note: The technician can connect existing cables - installation of new cables is not included.

Note: Please be aware that Verizon is not responsible for your LAN configuration which should support the bandwidth option you selected for the service. For example, if the devices and their applications residing within the LAN are set for lower bandwidth than what was purchased for 5G Business Internet, they will perform at that specific speed and not the speed tier purchased for the  5G Business Internet.

Does the router support Wi-Fi connectivity? Is it configured at installation? +
  • Wi-Fi Feature & Connectivity: If you plan to use the business router’s Wi-Fi feature, the technician can create a Wi-Fi Service Set Identifier (SSID)  and password for your needs. The technician can also assist you in provisioning an additional device to access the Wi-Fi network.

Note: After installation, you are required to maintain the router’s Wi-Fi settings.
