Fios TV One Set-Top Box
For activation details, watch How to set up your Fios TV One Set-Top Box, or review our Ethernet installation instructions, or our Coax installation instructions. You can also access instructions in Spanish here.
* If you have problems connecting your Fios TV One Mini to your Wi-Fi, use our Can’t Connect Troubleshooter.
When you find a program that you want to watch, to get it in 4K you need to purchase it through your Set-Top Box:
Select the Buy from $xx.xx button*
When presented with the option to buy or rent the title in your desired resolution, choose either Rent 4K $xx.xx or Buy 4K $xx.xx**
After you complete your transaction, you’ll be able to watch your title in the best possible format. If your setup doesn’t support 4K, it will play back in HD.
*You can currently only purchase and view 4K content through your Fios TV One and Fios TV One Mini. If you want to view those purchases on your Fios TV Mobile app, you can, but it won’t be in 4K. Get the Fios TV Mobile app.
**If your existing setup does not support 4K UHD, a message will display that indicates that your entire setup needs to be 4K capable. To view 4K content:
- You need a TV that supports 4K UHD
- If you have an audio/video receiver, soundbar or other equipment between your Set-Top Box and your TV, they also need to be 4K capable and connected via 4K-enabled ports
- Your HDMI cable needs to support HDCP2.2
- Your Set-Top Box should be set to a video format of 2160p

If you are a Fios TV One or private-viewing customer with a legacy set-top box, when using DVR services you’ll be able to:
Record a live show.
To record a show you're currently watching, press Record on your remote control.
Set up a series recording.
Your DVR lets you set up the recording of a TV series’ episodes. This saves you from having to set up individual recordings for a TV program that you want to regularly record.
There are two ways to set up a TV series recording:
From the TV Listings in the guide.
- Press the Menu button on your remote control
- Select TV Listings
- Select the desired method to use to view the TV listings and press OK
- Navigate to the program you want to record in the TV listings and highlight it
- Press the Record button on your remote twice (The first button press records the program, the second button press records the TV series)
From the DVR menu in the guide
- Press the Menu button on your remote control
- Select DVR
- Select Create Recording
- Select one of the options and follow the onscreen prompts to set up your series recording
Determine why a recording didn't record.
The following are common reasons why a series recording didn't record an episode of a program:
- The series recording is set to record first-run episodes only and the episode to be recorded was a rerun
- You've run out of space on your DVR and you've set your DVR to not delete the oldest recordings to make room for new recordings*
- The program information in the guide provided to Verizon was not unique and therefore may not record properly (This can happen occasionally with a small number of programs. Setting up manual recordings can avoid this problem)
*Ideally, you should try to ensure that you have at least 10% free space on your DVR's hard drive when you record new programs. If you record a program in HD, more hard drive space is required to store that program than the same program recorded in standard definition.
Set up a manual recording.
- Press the Menu button on your remote control
- Select DVR from the onscreen menu
- Select Create Recording from the available options
- Select Manual Recording
- Enter the appropriate settings for your recording:
- Channel number you want to record
- Start date and start time of when you want the recording to start
- End time when the recording should stop
- Appropriate Recurring setting (i.e., every day, every weekday and never)
- After you've selected the Manual Recording Options, select Save
Record shows in high-definition.
The steps for recording shows in high definition are basically the same as recording shows in standard definition. HDTV, however, uses a larger amount of your DVR's memory, resulting in fewer hours of recording space.
Watch a recorded show.
To watch a program you have already recorded:
- Press the DVR button
- Use the arrow keys to find and highlight your recorded show under View Recordings
- Press OK
Enhanced and Premium Fios TV DVR subscribers can watch programs using the Fios TV Mobile app.
Note: You can keep your recorded shows on your Fios DVR for as long as you want, but if you’re done with a show, select it from the menu and scroll to Delete.
Stream recorded shows.
You can access your recorded shows anywhere you have internet access, if you have the Fios DVR Enhanced or Premium service, Fios Internet service with a Fios router and the Fios TV Mobile App installed on a compatible device. To stream a show to your device, open the Fios TV Mobile App and select DVR > Filter or DVR location.
Resume watching a show after the TV turns off.
If the television turns off in the middle of a recorded show, your DVR bookmarks where you stopped watching the show. When you view the recording again, the program resumes where you left off.
Prevent automatic deletion of specific shows.
If your DVR runs out of recording space, by default, it will typically delete the oldest shows to make room for new recordings based on your settings. To prevent your DVR from deleting specific saved shows:
- Select Menu from your remote control
- Select Recorded TV
- Choose a program that you want to keep and then select Save Until
When the DVR deletes recordings to make space for new recordings, it does so based on the following priority:
- Recordings that have been deleted and are in the deleted queue
- Recordings that have been watched but have not been deleted
- Recordings that haven’t been watched and un-deleted recordings
- New or currently active recordings
- Locked/protected recordings
Within each priority, content will be deleted from oldest to newest, based on recording date.
Delete a recording.
- Press the Menu button on your remote control
- Select DVR
- Select Recorded Programs
- Select the program you want to delete
- Choose Delete
- Select Yes (Delete)
Pause Live TV on my DVR.
While watching Live TV, you can pause and rewind your DVR at any time by pressing the Pause button on your Fios TV remote control.
Get more DVR help.
From your remote control, select Menu and then select Help. Alternatively, your remote may have a Help button that provides quick access to help.
You can use the LEDs on the front of the Fios TV One and Fios One Mini to understand their status and to help you troubleshoot issues.

The TV input control (HDMI-CEC) feature can help you avoid blank screens, as well as, no video or no signal messages on your TV. It does this by automatically changing the input source to your Fios® TV Set-Top Box when you press the STB button on your Fios remote or Set-Top Box.
For TV input control to work properly:
- Your Fios Set-Top Box must be connected to your TV via an HDMI cable and your TV must support and have enabled HDMI-CEC (Consumer Electronic Control)
- This feature is only available to work with the Fios TV One and Fios TV One Mini Set-Top Boxes
When TV input control is activated on both your TV and your Set-Top Box, they will work together to display video from the same device and prevent encounters of blank screens and no video or no signal messages on your TV.
You can check if the feature has already been activated on your Fios Set-Top Box by pressing the Menu button on your Fios remote and navigating to Settings > Audio & Video > Video Settings > TV Input Control > Enable. If a check mark appears next to Enable, the feature is activated on that Set-Top Box and you will have the option of activating it on all of your Set-Top Boxes at that time.
Next, take the following steps to activate the feature on each of your TVs:
- Make sure your Set-Top Box is connected to your TV with a HDMI cable
- Use the remote that came with your TV (not the Fios One TV remote) to access the Settings menu on your TV
- Locate the TV input control HDMI-CEC feature*
- Enable or turn on the feature under Settings on your TV
Once enabled on both your Set-Top Box and TV, your Fios TV One remote will turn on the TV at the same time as the Set-Top Box and ensure the video is displayed from your Set-Top Box. For more information on the Fios TV One remote, visit our Fios TV One remote page.
