The Arlo Go 2 camera comes with one battery. A spare battery is not available from Verizon or Arlo. Spare batteries can be purchased for other Arlo products, including the original Arlo Go, but not the Arlo Go 2 camera. This will become an issue as the battery ages. Be aware.

HI Matthew B McRae, Thank you for providing your feedback. The Arlo GO 2 can use the Arlo XL Rechargeable Battery (VMA5410-10000S). Hope that helps.

Battery won’t hold charge

The battery goes dead overnight and support from Arlo will not respond after many attempts. I’ve purchased over 20 Arlo’s over the years but I’m done now. This one is junk.

Long time user, know all the pros & cons

3 out of 5 rating

FrankInSWFla · 2 months ago

Lengthly, but informative. I have been an avid user of the Arlo Go camera for about 5 years. Having property located in an off grid, isolated area, I loved the idea of a cellular driven security camera that I could use for remote viewing as well as for a 24/7 security system. I'll break this in to pros and cons. The pros are based on when the system operates properly. Pros=Great for wireless off-grid security and monitoring, user friendly app, relatively inexpensive monthly fees (for activity storage), solar charger capable, ease of use. Cons=Approximatly 50% failure rate of equipment (cameras, solar chargers, batteries) within 6 months of purchase, expensive cellular partners. I have 5 Arlo Go cameras that are paired with Arlo solar chargers. When the system (camera, battery, solar panel, cellular reception) is working harmoniously, I believe there is no better system available. BUT, that is rarely the case. Whether it is a failure from the camera, battery, solar charger or cellular reception, failure rates were high and made the cameras undependable. My biggest complaints are with the excessively high failure on solar panels, after being in the Florida sun for 6 months the panels fail. The monthly fees associate with Verizon, especially for multiple camera subscriptions, is extremely pricey when compared with others. Having said all that. I love the Arlo system. I hope things improve with the hardware because the software and apps are extremely user friendly.

Really poor battery life

2 out of 5 rating

ThomasD1934 · 2 months ago

Had difficulty setting it up unlike the previous Arlo Go. But the thing that makes it almost unusable is the battery life. It’s only a couple of hundred yards from my Arlo Go and has similar signal strength. But this Go 2, even with a fraction of the activity of the other one only last a couple of weeks where the original will last a couple of months.

Great Camera poor battery life

3 out of 5 rating

cozarv69 · 3 months ago

I have 3 gen 1 cameras and 1 2 gen camera I like the design better in gen 1 but the spotlight feature on gen 2 is cool. I have noticed battery is so much better on gen 1 than gen 2. I do not like how gen 2 needs to be charged at the bottom of base using magnetic base. It leaves me worried this camera will not last outside in west Texas weather. If gen 2 had a solar battery power option I would buy it but still curious about magnetic base charger lasting in weather. The picture looks so much clearer and better though on gen 3 camera and the price is also way better than gen 1.

ArloGo gen 2 is soooo much better than gen 1!

OnTheRun · 4 months ago

I do lost dog recovery in my area and the invention of ArloGo cameras as of 3 yrs ago were a game changer for getting dogs home. Unfortunately there has been a lot of frustration with the gen1 cameras having weird quirks, like going offline (for example) for no reason (which often required a trip to the middle of nowhere to reset by removing the battery), which can be nerve racking when you have a live trap set and need the cameras to be truly reliable. So far the gen2 ArloGo has been AMAZING! I don't get motion notifications with no video uploads to accompany it (like I still do with my still-in-use gen1's), the video is clearer, it has been way more reliable in every aspect. Even the mount is a better design - PLUS, they are more reasonably priced than gen1! I am replacing all three of my existing gen1 cameras and have added a 4th gen2 for my wayward dog arsenal. Now to just get gen2 skins to hide the glaring white of the camera (don't need to draw attention to these when set up in sometimes sketchy spots - but at least they FINALLY have a way to track them with built in GPS if they DO get stolen) and I'll be a happy consumer!

For such a big battery it doesn't last long on LTE

3 out of 5 rating

Kvaughn · 4 months ago

The cameras work better than the old style, but I don't understand how a massive 14000ma battery only last 11 days on LTE. The cameras we have on wifi lose maybe 1% a day. Verizon signal strength is at least 4 bars and they lose 9-11% a day without even being armed or used more than a few seconds a day

Yes, I'd recommend this product.

I have owned Arlo go original devices for 3 years. All three are still in use today. And believe me, I witnessed all the start up issues since 2018. So, I bought a new Arlo Go 2 the first day it came out. And, it has issues with the battery draining down in 2 weeks of usage. And some functions not responding. I was on the verge of returning it, but decided to give Verizon and Arlo time to address software issues, I discussed with them. So, things to consider, I did not activate WIFI initially on the camera, and believe the device was trying to connect to Wifi which drained the battery, Also, I had a weak Verizon cell signal, 1 bar. And the device was going off line a lot. So, my suggestion is, activate WIFI on the device, and then turn it off under devices. This will fail the device over to LTE service And, I think, maybe, either the Camera is boosting the LTE signal or Verizon is via QoS to that new device. Which make sense. I have repetitively forced the camera to go LTE and back to WIFI. And it works perfectly and quickly. And the signal in LTE is now 3 bars, where my other Go (original) cameras are only getting 1-2 bars. I used them on a farm. So, bottom line, the product is working at 5 Stars . Try the suggestions I mentioned if you have issues with the battery draining to fast. I have had the camera in use for 3 weeks now and battery is 80% with medium video usage and me checking via live feed everyday. That would project out to 3-4 months,

Camera works great at 70°. If temp drops to about 40°, solar panel won’t charge battery. If temp drops below 30°, camera stops working completely and it totally inoperable. THIS CAMERA IS NOT DESIGNED FOR OUTDOOR USE UNLESS YOU LIVE IN SAN DIEGO.
