Had issues with mine. Owned a 2016 Toyota Camry SE at first. Drove it for almost 2 yrs. Had the HumX in the whole time. It can read codes (not sure if accurately 100% if the time). I never used the device that clips to your visor. It wanted to be an extension of my cellphone when my car already had Bluetooth capabilities and my phone can call 911 in the event of an accident. I bet you're wondering, "But why a 2 start rating." Hotspot was on and off. Constantly. I unplugged and plugged back in I signed out and signed back in. I refreshed. Not every time and not in that order. But the real serious one? I was in a major car accident, one where my car was totalled, and the humx didn't detect it at all. Nothing in the Hum app that said I was in one. Am I missing something? Mainly rated low due to connectivity issues. Code reading is eh. It stopped reading after a while. Could be because I plugged it into my new but older vehicle? It tracks your trips, too. That stopped working accurately in regards to my safety score for driving. I don't know how accurate the trip tracking was because I didn't pay close attention. Anyway. I was happy to get new service. I originally got wifi in my car to drive passengers around. When the internet worked it was good to have.

Love this... I added one car and needed a new HUM device.

When it WORKS!!

ladykj21 · 4 months ago

Yes, I'd recommend this product.

I’ve had my HUM for over a year and a half and it works best when it’s cold outside. When it’s hot it doesn’t work very well, I live in California and we know temperatures can get up into the hundreds the HUM gets very hot in the car and doesn’t work as it should. The Wi-Fi is it only saving feature. I would recommend the HUM for the Wi-Fi features only!!!

Needs a different design.

Mitch⁶⁶ · 5 months ago

Functions of Hum worked right most of the time. It isn't too accurate on my location, once it said I was driving in Moscow when I was driving up I95. Lately it says I'm parked at various addresses when I'm actually driving. Diagnostics are the same as obd readers at automotive stores, a little vague but narrows the problem to a system. As for the speaker, I can barely hear the caller, and the caller can barely understand me, unless I hold it next to my face and that defeats the purpose of a hands free device. The obd is too cumbersome, it sticks so far out from under the dash we're banging our knees/shins on it if we're not being extra careful. The concepts are great, when it is functioning properly it's good to have, but it's not reliable enough to shell out hundreds of dollars for an upgrade.

Expensive obd2 reader

Kenneth · 6 months ago

This hum and speaker really are not worth the money. The WiFi never works. When you do have a check engine light come on it works well. I have had a lot of false battery readings. It has let me know my battery was very low when actually nothing was wrong and fully charged. The speaker honestly is not great. You can’t check the speakers battery level. When it is low it has a very annoying loud alert. And it will keep going off till you plug it in to charge. And I had gotten an email saying my hum needs to be replaced but hum not Verizon found no information about even tho I showed the email. Both companies never too accountability. Just point fingers and blame the other company

Barely Works

BunaBuna · 7 months ago

The speaker is always cutting off. I cannot connect to NumberShare because I have another device that is using numbershare on my account. The wifi is slow and its honestly a waste of money in my opinion.

Waste of $$ & a 2 year contract

one007guy · 8 months ago

Why I let the Verizon rep talk me into these 2 Hum devices for my vehicles is beyond me. They give false reads. I get more info from my life 360 app. Honestly, it’s a waste of $ unless you have kids that you want to track. Maybe I got lemons, but they definitely weren’t worth the squeeze!

Not happy

PamT · 1 years ago

Mine does not stay connected. I have had it replaced already once. I call and work with their customer service we get it connected. It's good for a few days and then in disconnects. I like it when it works, but it disconnects more than it works. I had a trip to TN last november, spent 45 minutes working to get it connected. 7 days later on the way home it disconnected. I've still got 8 months of paying for service for something that doesn't work half the time.

I have had my hum for 8 years I had trouble at first but we finally got it working right. Ever since I have had no problems I like the way it tells me if there is a problem with my car and I have other members of my family hooked up so they can always see where I am (I’m 76 years old) they worry about me a lot

I’ve heard from a few sources that the hum x is the only true unlimited device in that you won’t ever get slowed down from data usage. Can anybody verify if that is true or not?

Is this a device that allows you to connect your phone to and operates like a hands free device while you drive and speak on the phone?

Abby - 5 months

My old one worked like a Bluetooth. It was great talking over the speaker while driving. It worked great for about 5 months or so. I purchased the newer one, and, it does not have any way of talking to anyone, except emergency calls.
