Got the device and it wouldn't connect to 4G and the WiFi screen wouldnt show a SSID and password. Said to turn on band selection, which I did. Still didnt work. Called tech support spent 40 minutes on the phone and just told them to send me the Jetpack 8800L...Dont waste your time. This is junk.
Great Little Device
Chris · 6 days ago
Yes, I'd recommend this product.
We got this hotspot to use at our camper and it works great. We are back in a wooded area. The campground wifi is awful and we barely get mobile data to work on our phones in our campsite. Where we were barely getting basic internet, this device is allowing us to stream through roku on our television with no buffering so far. Internet access has been fast and easy. We have been using it for a month now with no problems. We have tried many things over the last few years to get internet at our campsite and this has been the answer.
BIGGEST PIECE OF CRAP EVER
Kris · 7 days ago
I had a MiFi 8800L, bought this because it is 5G capable... what a piece of junk... it stops charging if you leave it plugged in too long to conserve the battery.. which is fine if there was some warning, but nope. It will stop charging and let it completely die, then you have to turn it back on and try to charge it back up. It takes forever to charge back up once this happens and I have had to reset the stupid thing about twice a week, and pop the battery out even more often because it will not turn back on when you try to restart it with the power button. It doesn't hold a charge like it should even with minimal devices connected. It also shuts off randomly and rarely connects to the 5g when that is the whole reason I got it!! (all our personal devices connect to 5G in my home so I know it isn't signal strength etc...) It is just extremely unreliable and I am so incredibly disappointed in this thing. I don't see an option to return it anymore on my account so I'm assuming I'm at 31 days past the threshold for that. Get the MiFi M2100 5G UW, it is money much better spent.... totally reliable and neither of the MiFi devices I have, have failed me.... unlike this now useless brick.
Buffering
Nordic Cowboy · 13 days ago
I bought this 4 days ago ad it buffers while trying to stream movies. Cannot open admin page, it says the server cannot be connected to. It shows to have a strong signal and doesn’t work. I hotspot on my phone with zero issues. I’ll be returning this asap.
Most annoying start up process ever

Cant connect to device because the network key I am given by the device is showing incorrect. No info on how to fix the problem from the verizon website or the startup guide. Wouldnt recommend. Rated this fair because verizon wont allow me to post a comment with one star
Works way better than expected!

Yes, I'd recommend this product.
Upgraded from an orbic Speed 4g hotspot i got a year ago, was very happy with it, so decided to moved up to the 5G as the coverage was getting better on 5G and can now use it in the car. Battery lasted a while, and I can charge it with the car charger to keep it going if needed. The connection is quick, I dont have any issues doing video calls and sending files.
It's not the device, but it's Verizon that's the problem
rollers · 1 month ago
I use the device only while traveling. I just made my first trip after picking up the device, 30 days plus 4 more days. I had turned it on at home to check it and then it sat in the manufacture box until my trip. I got to my destination and when I peeled off the clear screen protector and the screen had a crack in it. Verizon's answer was it's past the 30 days. Just pay off the device and then order another one. The device works very well
Amazing! Purchased to run Sonos system for parties
Adam_PDX · 1 month ago
Yes, I'd recommend this product.
After many disappointing attempts to use Sonos speakers with public WI-FI particularly in party or event spaces, I needed a reliable solution to run a Sonos system. This worked and exceeded expectations. I ran the Orbic Speed Ethernet line out into a 8-port Ethernet switch and was able to hardwire 4 Sonos speakers into that hub, and plug iPad into it as well. We had music all night long with no interruptions. Will def be using this for several different configurations.
Frequently asked questions
John・May 6, 2022
Can you use this for gaming? Or what does Verizon have for gaming in a hot spot?
Verizon Customer Support - 2 days
Gaming online can use a large amount of data rather quickly. Because of this, we do not recommend using a Hotspot device as your main source of connection when gaming. Such activities would be better suited with our Wi-Fi through Verizon FiOS, or through 4G LTE and 5G Home Internet Installed Services. This device would be best suited for vacations, and short trips away from home. Please let us know if you have any additional questions on this device. *Robert

Hello, I'm considering using this for IoT and Robotics projects. Does this have the ability to forward ports? Is there a static IP or dynamic DNS? Do you offer anything else for IoT development?
Verizon Customer Support - 4 days
The Orbic Speed 5G UW has the option for port forwarding. This device uses Dynamic IP for connection to the internet. -Michelle
Security Cameras・May 3, 2022
Would this be sufficient to run 3 security cameras off of with 720p?
Verizon Customer Support - 6 days
Is 720p good enough for security cameras? Most homes don't have large enough living spaces to require an upgrade, but there are some instances where this could help. A 720p camera's image is high enough quality to identify someone looking directly at the lens from across an average family room with good lighting. *Lisa
