For what it is, this speaker is seriously a great product. However, I can immediately think of some quality of life upgrades which would make this a 5 star product. First, adding Wi-Fi and AirPlay 2 support. As a Home speaker, the non-existence of Wi-Fi for audio is a huge letdown. Especially when this speaker only has nine hours of battery life via Bluetooth, this would put it more into the ballpark of both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speakers, much like the Portable Smart Speaker. That speaker has both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and gets twelve hours of batterylife, so there's no reason the SoundLink Home cannot have Wi-Fi.
The next ding in the rating is for the weight distribution. I don't like the way this speaker is top-heavy, and with it being as narrow as it is, I was hoping for a lower center of gravity so that it wouldn't tip over so easily and damage its delicate finish. Even adding a thicker bottom plate to anchor the speaker more firmly to its resting surface would help it be better suited to homes with animals who might push the speaker over by accident.
Third, is the USB-C audio and cables. While the cables are very nice, I'd really like to have USB-C variants instead of having to find a legacy USB-A chargers and adapters to interface the speaker with modern computers which do not have USB-A ports.
I'd also like the ability to stream music via Bluetooth and have USB audio at the same time, much as the Companion 2 speakers allow for two devices to input to the speakers. I'd like to use these as desktop speakers with my computer and listen to music from my phone at the same time, but it is currently not possible.
Also, I'm glad this speaker has not lost its voice prompts as all other modern Bose speakers have as a result of this terrible "update". Not having an app to link is a wonderful plus and makes this speaker easy to recommend.
