Setting notification rules in the Gmail™ app on your Android™ smartphone or tablet is essential for maintaining focus. Adjusting these options gives you control over when and how you are alerted to new emails.
  1. Open the
    Gmail app
    .
  2. Tap the
    3-line Menu
     then tap
    Settings
    .
  3. Select the applicable Gmail account.
  4. Tap
    Notifications
     then select an option:
    • All
    • High priority only
    • None
  5. When 'All' is enabled, tap
    Inbox notifications
     then select an option:
    • Label notifications
    • Notify for every message
  6. Tap
    Sync messages
    , ensure it's set to 'Last 30 days' or 'All' then tap the
    Back arrow
    .
  7. Tap
    Notification sounds
    .
  8. Tap
    Sound
     then select the preferred notification sound or tap
    None
    .
  9. Tap the
    Back arrow
     then tap
    Done
    .
